MILLION MEALS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE INDIANA PORK PRODUCERS. INDIANA PORK MARKETS THE PROGRAM TO ITS MEMBERS AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES. FEEDING INDIANA'S HUNGRY ACCEPTS AND PROCESSES DONATIONS, PURCHASES PORK FOR PROCESSING, AND ARRANGES TRANSPORTATION TO FOOD BANKS. THE POUNDS DISTRIBUTED ARE BASED ON A FORMULA THAT CONSIDERS UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY ON A COUNTY BY COUNTY BASIS.
FEEDING INDIANA'S HUNGRY PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO MEMBER FOOD BANKS THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY, COOPERATION ON STATEWIDE INITIATIVES, AND THE MILLION MEALS AND SNAP PROJECTS. FUNDING COMES FROM DUES PAID BY MEMBER FOOD BANKS BASED ON POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT DATA, GIFTS AND GRANTS.
FEEDING INDIANA'S HUNGRY PROVIDES SNAP OUTREACH TRAINING TO LOCAL FOOD BANK AGENCIES, CREATES RESOURCES, AND DISSEMINATES INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PROGRAM. THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AIDS IN LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS PURCHASING FOOD TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES.
