THE FOUNDATION'S PURPOSE IS TO RAISE AND ADMINISTER FUNDS FOR THE BENEFIT OF NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATIONS THAT ARE EXEMPT FROM TAX UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE AND ARE NOT PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS.

EDUCATION - WE STRIVE TO PROMOTE A GREATER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF SCIENCE AMONG THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND TO EDUCATE THE YOUNG SCIENTISTS OF THE FUTURE BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS TO WORK WITH PROFESSIONAL SCIENTISTS ON CHALLENGING PROJECTS, WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO PURSUE CAREERS IN THE SCIENCES AND TO BECOME PART OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF BIOMEDICAL RESEARCHERS. THERE WERE NO EXPENSES THIS YEAR DUE TO THE PANDEMIC BUT THE PROGRAM WILL RESUME THIS SUMMER.
SPONSOR A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL. THIS PROGRAM IS THE YOUNG PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. HWF IS RECRUITING 30 YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FROM AREA BUSINESSES AND CORPORATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS AS AMBASSADORS FOR HWF. THIS PROGRAM WILL EDUCATE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ON OUR MISSION, THE WORK WE DO, AND HOW TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR THE FOUNDATION. THIS YEAR-LONG PROGRAM WILL INCLUDE TRAINING AND WILL CULMINATE IN A SPECIAL RECOGNITION CEREMONY. WE NEED RESOURCES TO BE ABLE TO OFFER THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
