RALEIGH TENNIS ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE AND GROW THE GAME OF TENNIS IN THE RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA AREA AS A MEANS OF HEALTHY RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY AND PHYSICAL FITNESS; TO FOSTER A LIFETIME LOVE OF THE GAME OF TENNIS AND TO DO SO IN A DIVERSE, INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERYONE; TO ADMINISTER AND/OR OPERATE TENNIS PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND EVENTS IN THE CITY OF RALEIGH; TO REPRESENT RALEIGH AS A COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATION (CTA) AND MEMBER OF THE USTA NC; AND TO ENGAGE IN ANY OTHER LAWFUL ACTIVITY AUTHORIZED BY THE ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION OF THE CORPORATION.

ADULT PROGRAMMING: RALEIGH TENNIS ASSOCIATION (RTA) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF ALL USTA AND RTA ADULT LEAGUES, TOURNAMENTS, NEW PLAYER PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES AS WELL AS THE COORDINATION AND PROMOTION OF ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO ADULT COMPETITION AND PROGRAMS. RTA RUNS SEVERAL USTA PUBLIC LEAGUES FOR ADULTS, SENIORS AND SUPER SENIORS IN THE SPRING, SUMMER, AND FALL WITH OVER 12,362 PLAYERS WHICH WAS GREATER THAN A 50 PERCENT INCREASE OVER 2020. THE ADULT LEAGUE REGISTRATIONS ARE BACK TO PRE-PANDEMIC NUMBERS. IN ADDITION, THE RTA WINTER LEAGUE INCLUDED 1,567 PARTICIPANTS, A 39 PERCENT INCREASE OVER PRIOR YEAR. OUR 30 & UNDER LEAGUE HAD 68 PARTICIPANTS AND OUR TRY TENNIS PATHWAY PROGRAMS BROUGHT IN 507 NEW PLAYERS TO RALEIGH.


COMMUNITY OUTREACH: RTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IDENTIFYING AND ORGANIZING OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH TENNIS. RTA SUPPORTS OR PROVIDES PROGRAMS WHICH PROMOTE AND DEVELOP THE GROWTH OF TENNIS. AS AN ASSOCIATION, THE GROUP WORKS TO COORDINATE AND MAINTAIN PROGRAMS AND SERVICES, AND GUARANTEES THEY ARE OPEN AND ACCESSIBLE TO ALL. RTA REACHES OUT TO AREAS IN THE COMMUNITY TO EMPOWER OTHERS WITH INFORMATION, SUPPORT, FUNDING, AND RESOURCES FOCUSED ON THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. IN 2021, WE DONATED FUNDS TO ABILITIES TENNIS, COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF WAKE COUNTY, TENNIS FOR LIFE, AND EBONY JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS TO PROVIDE AND SUPPORT TENNIS OPPORTUNITIES. RTA DONATED 11,000 IN 2021, INCLUDING SCHOLARSHIPS TO 2 COLLEGE STUDENTS OF 2,500 EACH.


JUNIOR PROGRAMMING: RTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING THE EFFORT TO PROMOTE AND DEVELOP RECREATIONAL JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMS IN RALEIGH. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND RTA STAFF PARTNER WITH TENNIS PROVIDERS, TENNIS CLUBS, NEIGHBORHOOD CLUBS, SCHOOLS, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, COLLEGES, CITY OF RALEIGH, AND NEIGHBORING TOWNS TO PROMOTE AND IMPLEMENT RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS JUNIOR TRY TENNIS, TEAM CHALLENGES, SCHOOL TENNIS, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, TOURNAMENTS, NEW COACH TRAININGS, AND OTHER NEW JUNIOR PLAYER INITIATIVES. RTA RAN 7 TOURNAMENTS FOR JUNIOR PLAYERS IN 2021, INCLUDING 3 USTA SANCTIONED L6 TOURNAMENTS. 554 JUNIOR PLAYERS PARTICIPATED IN THESE TOURNAMENTS. JUNIOR TRY TENNIS BROUGHT IN 510 NEW JUNIORS TO TENNIS IN RALEIGH.
