THE ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS GROWING TENNIS TO INSPIRE HEALTHIER PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES EVERYWHERE. THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF TENNIS AS A MEANS OF HEALTHFUL RECREATION AND PHYSICAL FITNESS, AS WELL AS, ESTABLISHES AND MAINTAINS RULES OF FAIR PLAY AND HIGH STANDARDS OF SPORTSMANSHIP.USTA SOUTHERN WAS FOUNDED IN 1886 AND IS FOCUSED ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF TENNIS WITHIN THE NINE STATES COMPRISING THE USTA SOUTHERN SECTION ALABAMA, ARKANSAS, GEORGIA, KENTUCKY, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA AND TENNESSEE. IT IS THE LARGEST OF 17 SECTIONAL ASSOCIATIONS THAT MAKE UP THE UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION (USTA), THE NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY OF TENNIS IN THE UNITED STATES.

COMMUNITY TENNIS PROGRAM - THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A FRAMEWORK FOR OUR NETWORK OF COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATIONS TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE THEIR MISSION, WHICH INCLUDES GRANTS, ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND CONTINUING EDUCATION. THIS INVOLVES DISTRIBUTIONS OF GRANTS AND ALLOCATIONS, COSTS TO HANDLE MAINTENANCE AND RECORDS, SUBMITTING OF DEPOSITS AND DISTRIBUTING FUNDS TO 9 STATES AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS.
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM -THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMMING FOR JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS AT BOTH THE ENTRY LEVEL AND THE ADVANCED LEVEL, JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS, AND IN SCHOOL AND AFTER SCHOOL TENNIS PROGRAMMING VIA THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOLS.
ADULT PROGRAM - THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES ADULT AND SENIOR TENNIS PROGRAMMING FOR ADULT TOURNAMENTS AT BOTH THE LEVEL BASE AND AGE BASE, ADULT LEAGUES, SOCIAL LEAGUES AND INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMMING FOR NEW PLAYERS.
