THE HUMANIST SOCIETY OF GREATER PHOENIX (HSGP) IS YOUR SECULAR OASIS AND HUMANIST COMMUNITY IN PHOENIX AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS. WERE PROUD TO BE A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN HUMANIST ASSOCIATION. WERE PROUD TO BE ONE OF THE FEW OPENLY HUMANIST GROUPS IN THE UNITED STATES WITH A PLACE TO CALL HOME. HSGP IS A WARM AND WELCOMING COMMUNITY OF HUMANISTS, ATHEISTS, AGNOSTICS, FREETHINKERS, AND NON-THEISTS OF ALL TYPES. THE GROUP AIMS TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF ANY WHO JOIN US THROUGH EXPLORATIONS IN SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY, HISTORY, AND THE ARTS. WE ARE PRIMARILY AN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION, PROVIDING BI-MONTHLY LECTURES BY EXPERTS IN VARIOUS FIELDS; OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSE OVER BOOKS, ARTS, AND SPECIFIC DISCUSSION TOPICS; AND SOCIAL EVENTS SUCH AS GAME NIGHTS, POTLUCKS, AND SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS THROUGH THE YEAR. OUR MEMBERS HAVE DIVERSE AND PASSIONATE INTERESTS IN TOPICS SUCH AS SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, EVOLUTION, TECHNOLOGY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. OUR COMMUNITY IS

THROUGH THE FIRST MONTHS OF 2022, HSGP CONTINUED TO HOLD REGULARLY SCHEDULED EVENTS ON ZOOM, INCLUDING A SMART RECOVERY PROGRAM, WEEKLY COFFEE SOCIALS AND A BIWEEKLY SUNDAY SPEAKER PROGRAM WHICH WAS ALSO LIVE-STREAMED OVER OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL. ALTHOUGH OUR COMMUNITY CENTER WAS CLOSED FOR MOST MEETINGS DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC UNTIL JUNE, THE RED CROSS HELD FOUR BLOOD DRIVES THERE. IN JUNE WE REOPENED THE CENTER FOR ALL IN-PERSON EVENTS. HSGP INSTALLED A LITTLE FREE LIBRARY IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING IN FEBRUARY AND IT HAS PROVEN TO BE QUITE POPULAR. IN AUGUST WE STARTED A LITTLE FREE PANTRY TO HELP WITH FOOD SECURITY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
