THE PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE ASSISTANCE TO ARTISTS, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, AND THE COMMUNITY, IN THE FORM OF ARTSPACE MANAGEMENT, ARTS EDUCATION, AND ARTSPACE DEVELOPMENT EXPERTISE.

PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF HISTORIC WAREHOUSES FOR ARTS USES THROUGH PROPERTY ACQUISITION AND MANAGEMENT, WAMO WORKS TO ENSURE THAT AFFORDABLE SPACES FOR ARTS USES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE WAREHOUSE ARTS DISTRICT IN PERPETUITY. WAMO OWNS AND MANAGES TOOLE SHED STUDIOS WITH 13 STUDIOS AND THE STEINFELD WAREHOUSE WITH 18 ART STUDIOS AND 11 ART ORIENTED BUSINESSES AND 3500 SF OF EXHIBITION AND PERFORMANCE SPACE. 45 ARTISTS DIRECTLY BENEFIT, APPROXIMATELY 6,000 PERSONS WHO COME TO OPEN STUDIO TOURS OR PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES, ACTIVITIES, AND EVENTS, WERE INDIRECTLY BENEFITED.PROMOTION OF THE TUCSON HISTORIC WAREHOUSE ARTS DISTRICT, ITS ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH OUTREACH, SOCIAL MEDIA, A DEDICATED WEBSITE (WAREHOUSEARTSDISTRICT.COM), OPEN STUDIO TOUR SPONSORSHIP, AND SPECIAL ARTS EVENTS, WAMO WORKS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ARTISTS AND CREATIVE BUSINESSES IN THE DISTRICT. APPROXIMATELY 8,000 PERSONS WERE REACHED.ARTS ADVOCACY WAMO WORKS TO ENSURE THAT RE-DEVELOPMENT/ REVITALIZATION EFFORTS IN DOWNTOWN TUCSON ARE INCLUSIVE OF THE ARTS, AND CONSISTENT WITH THE WAREHOUSE ARTS DISTRICT MASTER PLAN. THE FOCUS IS ON INCREASING THE COMMITMENT TO PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC WAREHOUSES AND TO DEVELOPMENT OF AREA AS ARTS DISTRICT AMONG KEY STAKEHOLDERS.
