GRANT PROGRAM:IN 2021, UNRWA USA ADOPTED FOUR TECHNICAL PILLARS TO GUIDE AND PRIORITIZE OUR PROGRAM FUNDING: 1) EDUCATION + TRAINING, 2) HEALTH (INCLUDING MENTAL HEALTH), 3) PROTECTION, AND 4) EMERGENCY RESPONSE. UNDER EDUCATION + TRAINING, GRANT FUNDS ENABLED NEARLY 100 UNIVERSITY AND POST-GRADUATE STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM UNRWA SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT AS WELL AS SUPPORT SCHOOL REPAIR AND RETROFITTING OF SCHOOLS IN EAST JERUSALEM. UNDER EMERGENCY RESPONSE, GRANT FUNDING ENABLED 57,063 FULL FOOD PARCELS INCLUDING FLOUR, RICE, CHICKPEAS, LENTILS, MILK, AND COOKING OIL TO BE DELIVERED TO 11,413 REFUGEE FAMILIES IN GAZA. GRANT FUNDING ALSO ENABLED THE START OF RECONSTRUCTION OF 17 DAMAGED DWELLINGS THAT WERE PARTIALLY DESTROYED DURING THE MAY 2021 ASSAULT. UNDER HEALTH, GRANT FUNDING ENABLED OVERR 22,000 PALESTINE REFUGEES TO ACCESS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN 2021, INCLUDING INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, GROUP THERAPY, AND PUBLIC EDUCATION ON CORE MENTAL HEALTH TOPICS, INCLUDING SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE. FINALLY, UNDER PROTECTION, GRANT FUNDING ENABLED THE LEBANON FIELD TO LAUNCH AN ASSESSMENT PROJECT TO IDENTIFY WAYS TO MAKE UNRWA SERVICES MORE ACCESSIBLE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE ALSO LAUNCHED OUR ORPHAN SUPPORT INITIATIVE, WHICH CONTINUES IN 2022, ALLOWING ORPHANED REFUGEE CHILDREN AND THEIR CARETAKERS TO ACCESS VITAL SUPPORT FOR FOOD, HEALTH, SCHOOLING, AND CLOTHING.
OTHER PROGRAMS:BUILDING AWARENESS ABOUT THE PLIGHT OF PALESTINE REFUGEES AND THE ESSENTIAL FOOD, HEALTH, HOUSING, EDUCATION, AND PROTECTION SERVICES THAT UNRWA PROVIDES TO THIS POPULATION THROUGH EDUCATION AND AWARENESS BUILDING ACTIVITIES.
