THE MISSION OF THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER IS TO SAVE LIVES OF HOMELESS ANIMALS THROUGH RESCUE, ADOPTION, EDUCATION AND SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES.

FOUNDED IN 2004, THE AAC IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN JACKSON HOLE. OUR HIGHLY VISIBLE LOCATION PROMOTES EXCELLENT COMMUNITY INTERACTION WITH OUR ANIMALS AND PROGRAMS. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE AAC HAS RESCUED THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS AND PLACED THEM IN LOVING FOREVER HOMES. THE AAC RESCUES ANIMALS FROM OVERCROWDED SHELTERS, ABANDONMENT, HOARDING CASES, AND CASES OF NEGLECT. WE PARTNER WITH REGIONAL SHELTERS AND NATIONAL RESCUES TO SAVE ANIMALS. OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE NIGHTLY FOSTERING, DOG WALKING, CAT SOCIALIZING, YOUTH VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS, AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION.
MILLIONS OF ADOPTABLE CATS AND DOGS ARE EUTHANIZED IN AMERICA EACH YEAR DUE TO OVERCROWDING IN SHELTERS. IN 2009, THE AAC LAUNCHED THE SPAY/NEUTER WYOMING PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ATTACH THE ROOT OF THE PET OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM THROUGH SPAY/NEUTER. OUR STRATEGY INCLUDES HOSTING FREE MOBILE CLINICS ON THE WIND RIVER RESERVATION (WRR), PROVIDING LOW-INCOME VOUCHERS IN EIGHT COMMUNITIES, AND OFFERING SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE TO SHELTERS THROUGH OUR WYOMING SHELTER PROJECT. THIS WORK EXPANDED TO ASSIST AN OVER- CROWDED SHELTER IN LAREDO, TEXAS IN 2020. IN TOTAL, THIS PROGRAM HAS SUPPORTED OVER 14,000 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES STATEWIDE AND BEYOND.
ALL AAC ANIMALS ARE VACCINATED, MICRO-CHIPPED, AND SPAYED OR NEUTERED PRIOR TO ADOPTION. THE AAC ALSO PROVIDES SPECIALIZED MEDICAL TREATMENT OR COMPREHENSIVE CARE FOR ANIMALS THAT, WITHOUT MEDICAL INTERVENTION, MAY BE DEEMED UNADOPTABLE.
