THE MISSION OF THE CHEYENNE ANIMAL SHELTER IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ANIMALS AND PEOPLE THROUGH COMPASSION, RESPECT AND EDUCATION.

THE CHEYENNE ANIMAL SHELTER WAS FOUNDED MORE THAN 50 YEARS AGO, CAS HAS BEEN PROUDLY SERVING CHEYENNE AND LARAMIE COUNTY AS THE LARGEST COMMUNITY- CENTERED ANIMAL SHELTER AND RESOURCE CENTER IN THE STATE OF WYOMING. FOR THE LAST HALF CENTURY WE HAVE MADE IT OUR WORK TO ENSURE THAT EVERY HOMELESS OR DISPLACED PET HAS A SAFE PLACE TO GO FOR HOUSING, CARE, AND SECOND CHANCES. KNOWING TOO THAT ATTACHED TO EACH ONE OF THOSE ANIMALS IS A PERSON, WE VIEW OURSELVES AS PART OF THE LOCAL FABRIC OF CRITICAL SOCIAL SERVICES ENHANCING THE DIGNITY OF PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. TOGETHER, WE ARE WORKING TO HELP PETS AND PEOPLE GET ACCESS TO THE RESOURCES THEY NEED IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND WHICH, AS WE ALL KNOW, IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS LIFE HAS TO OFFER. 2022 PROGRAMS, SERVICES, AND SUCCESSES ANIMAL SHELTERING AND ADOPTIONS - IN 2022, THE SHELTER PROVIDED ONSITE HOUSING, CARE, AND REFUGE FOR MORE THAN 4,000 HOMELESS OR TEMPORARILY DISPLACED PETS. THROUGH ITS PROACTIVE ADOPTIONS AND SAFE HARBOR SHELTERING PROGRAMS, THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS EITHER FOUND A SECOND CHANCE WITH NEW, FOREVER FAMILIES, OR WERE ABLE TO STAY WITH THEIR EXISTING FAMILIES THROUGH PERSONALLY TUMULTUOUS TIMES. ACCESS TO CARE AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - IN 2022, THE SHELTER REINVIGORATED ITS EFFORTS TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO SERVICES AND LOW-COST, ESSENTIAL CARE TO THOUSANDS OF OWNED PETS THROUGHOUT LARAMIE COUNTY. WITH PUBLIC-FACING VACCINE AND SPAY/NEUTER CLINICS, OUR PET FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM, AND COMPASSIONATE, END-OF-LIFE SERVICES, THE SHELTER IS ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PETS AND PEOPLE ACROSS THE COMMUNITY. EMPLOYEE CARE AND CULTURE - IN 2022, THE SHELTER RESPONDED TO THE ONGOING LABOR CRISIS BY REINVESTING IN ITS STAFF AND ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE. INCREASES TO BASELINE WAGES, IMPROVED ONBOARDING, RESTRUCTURING, AND A FOCUS ON VALUES AND IMPACT HAVE SLOWED EMPLOYEE TURNOVER, ENHANCED MORALE, AND SET THE SHELTER ON A TRAJECTORY TO DEVELOP SKILLED, TENURED, AND ENGAGED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS FOR YEARS TO COME.
