PROVIDE DIRECT FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO: SILAIS NICARAGUA TO MOYOGALPA HOSPITAL THROUGH DONATIONS OF FOOD, FUEL, STATIONARY AND CLEANING SUPPLIES - DIRECT PATIENT HEALTHCARE COSTS FOR PHARMACEUTICALS, LABORATORY EXPENSES, AND/OR TRANSPORTATION TO SEEK SPECIALTY MEDICAL CARE NOT AVAILABLE ON THE ISLAND, AND - TO THE COMMUNITY OF LOS ANGELES BU HOSTING THE NDI CLINIC THROUGH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO LOCAL FAMILIES WHO PROVIDE HOMESTAYS FOR VISITING DOCTORS AND STUDENTS. DIOSA (GODESS, IN SPANISH) - DIOSA IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES WOMEN'S WELLNESS EXAMS AND PREVENTIVE SERVICES, EDUCATIONAL LECTURES, AND COMMUNITY ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF WOMEN'S HEALTHCARE RIGHTS. THE NDI CLINIC IS THE ONLY ONE ON THE ISLAND THAT OFFERS A FULL RANGE OF SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE INCLUDING PRIMARY CARE SERVICES, PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES, COORDINATION WITH STATE AGENCIES WORKING FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN, MINSA AND THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM. IN THE DIOSA PROGRAM, NDI DOCTORS PERFORMED PAPS IN ADDITION TO DIRECT MEDICAL CARE. THE SPONSOR A PATIENT PROGRAM PROVIDED DIRECT MEDICINE COSTS OUTIDE OF THE NDI CLINIC TO PATIENTS IN THE PROGRAM. MULTIPLE DIOSA WOMEN'S GROUPS AROUND THE ISLAND WERE TRAINED IN COMMUNITIES TO HELP PROVIDE EDUCATION TO WOMEN AND SUPPORT GROUPS. THE DIOSA GROUPS LEARN AND THEN EDUCATE OTHERS ON ISSUES RELATED TO DIET, WOMEN'S HEALTH, REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, HOME SAFETY, AND THE RIGHT TO LIVE FREE OF VIOLENCE.
