RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY (RRV) PINOT FORUM: ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS MEANS OF IMPLEMENTING ITS GOALS IS THROUGH THE HOLDING OF ANNUAL MEETING AND SEMINAR FOR INVITED INFLUENTIAL WINE PROFESSIONALS. THIS ACTIVITY, WHICH IS AN OUTGROWTH OF A SIMILAR EDUCATIONAL EVENT PIONEERED BY A GROUP OF RRV AMERICAN VITICULTURAL AREA (AVA); PINOT NOIR. THE ANNUAL PINOT FORUM WAS HELD IN AUGUST. INFLUENTIAL WINE DIRECTORS AND SOMMELIERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTY WERE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. IN A THREE DAY PERIOD, SEVERAL EDUCATIONAL EVENTS WERE HELD THAT INCLUDED EXPLANATION OF THE UNIQUE CLIMATE, GEOLOGY AND GROWING CONDITIONS OF THE RRV, INCLUDING THE NATURE OF ITS SUBREGIONS, TOURS OF VINEYARDS IN THE SUBREGIONS OF THE RRV AVA, TASTING OF WINES FROM THE SUBREGIONS, AND FOOD AND WINE PAIRINGS THAT ACCENTUATED THE VALUE OF PINOT NOIR TO THE FOOD INDUSTRY. A COMPENDIUM OF DATA ABOUT THE RRV AVA WAS PREPARED AND GIVEN TO THE ATTENDEES AS A STUDY GUIDE. THIS EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR BENEFITS THE ATTENDEES, THE CONSUMERS THAT PATRONIZE THEIR ESTABLISHMENTS AND, INDIRECTLY, THE WINERIES THAT PRODUCE WINE FROM THE RRV AVA, AS WELL AS THE MANY GRAPE GROWERS IN THE REGION.
