KENNEDY HYANNIS MUSEUM IS A MULTIMEDIA EXHIBIT DESIGNED TO OPEN A WINDOW ON THE DAYS JFK SPENT ON CAPE COD; DAYS RELAXING WITH FAMILY, DAYS AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED SATES WHEN THE CAPE PROVIDED A TIME TO RELAX AND BE REINVIGORATED AND DAYS SPENT SAILING ON THE OCEAN TO WHICH HE WAS SO CONSTANTLY DRAWN. THE MUSEUMS EXHIBITS FEATURES VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHS SPANNING THE YEARS 1934 TO 1963 AND IS ARRANGED IN THEMATIC GROUPINGS TO REFLECT JOHN F. THE JOHN F. KENNEDY MUSEUM FOUNDATIONS COLLECTIONS AND EXHIBITS COMPRISE VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHS SPANNING THE YEARS 1934 TO 1963 AND IS ARRANGED IN THEMATIC GROUPINGS TO REFLECT JOHN F. KENNEDY, HIS FAMILY, HIS FRIENDS AND THE CAPE COD HE SO DEARLY LOVED. IN ADDITION TO PHOTOGRAPHY, A VIDEO NARRATED BY WALTER CRONKITE DEPICTS THE PRESIDENTS EXPERIENCES ON THE CAPE. SEVERAL THEMED AREAS INCLUDE CHARGED ORAL HISTORIES OF JFKS FRIENDS. THE COLLECTIONS ARE MAINTAINED FOR PUBLIC EXHIBITION, EDUCATION, AND RESEARCH IN FURTHERANCE OF PUBLIC SERVICE, RATHER THAN FOR FINANCIAL GAIN.
THE MUSEUM, IN THE ORDINARY COURSE OF BUSINESS, OPERATES A GIFT SHOP FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MUSEUMS ATTENDEES. THE OPERATION OF THE GIFT SHOP CONTRIBUTES IMPORTANTLY TO ACCOMPLISHING THE ORGANIZATIONS EXEMPT PURPOSES. FURTHER, THE MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE FOR SALE IS SUBSTANTIALLY RELATED TO, AND SUPPORTS THE MUSEUMS STATED MISSION. THE GIFT SHOP PROVIDES UNIQUE PRODUCTS INSPIRED BY THE COLLECTION AND THE LEGACY OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY.
THE JOHN F. KENNEDY HYANNIS MUSEUM FOUNDATION HAS A STRATEGIC GOAL TO BRING THE EDUCATIONAL AND YOUTH PROGRAMS AND CURRICULA TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. THE FOUNDATION LAUNCHED A YOUTH SPEAKER SERIES IN THE 4TH QUARTER 2013 WHICH FOCUSED ON PRESENTATIONS AND PUBLIC EVENTS DIRECTED AT THE CAPE AND ISLANDS STUDENTS AS WELL AS YOUNG ADULTS.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ENHANCEMENTS TO EXHIBITS AT THE MUSEUM TO BETTER TELL THE STORY OF JOHN F KENNEDY AND HIS YEARS ON CAPE COD. OVER 60,000 VISITORS TOUR THE MUSEUM EACH YEAR.
