TO ENHANCE THE APPRECIATION AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE AREA OF LOCAL HISTORICAL WORKS OF ART.

EXHIBITS - WHM CAUTIOUSLY REOPENED IN JULY 2021 FOLLOWING STATE AND FEDERAL COVID GUIDELINES. WHM PARTICIPATED IN THE CITY-WIDE CELEBRATION OF WORCESTER'S 300TH ANNIVERSARY WITH THE EXIHIBT "WE ALL GOT HISTORY," A LOOK AT WORCESTER PEOPLE, PLACES AND EVENTS THROUGHOUT THOSE CENTURIES. IT WAS FOLLOWED BY "WORCESTER SCENE: RESEEN," AN ANNIVERSARY REINSTALLATION OF MORE THAN 100 PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CITY COMMISSIONED FROM 9 LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. IT WAS SUPPLEMENTED WITH SEVERAL PROGRAMS FROM NOT ONLY THE PERSPECTIVES OF THOSE PHOTOGRAPHERS AS WELL AS NEW "LENSES" ON THE EVER-CHANGING CITY.


COLLECTIONS - EXHIBIT AND COLLECTIONS TOURS RESUMED AS COVID RESTRICTION WERE LIFTED. A VARIETY OF GROUPS EXPERIENCED BOTH THE MUSEUM AND THE MANSION; SPECIAL EMPHASIS/PRIORITY WAS GIVEN TO LESSONS/VISITS FOR ALL OF THE CITY'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS FIFTH GRADERS, EACH OF WHOM VISITED THE MUSEUM, EXPERIENCED ITS GALLERIES/COLLECTIONS, AND ENGAGED IN A CIVICS-DEFINED MOCK TOWN MEETING.


LIBRARY - THE LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES RECEIVES REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION DURING THE YEAR, THOUGH VISITORS, PHONE CALLS, EMAILS AND CLASS VISITS FROM LOCAL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. PROJECTS INCLUDE CATALOGING THE LIBRARY'S BOOKS AND OTHER FILES, INDEXING NEWS CLIPPINGS, AND MAPPING THE LOCATIONS OF ARCHIVAL MATERIALS. THE COLLECTION CONTINUES TO GROW DRAMATICALLY IN VOLUME/CONTENT AS WELL AS USE.
