CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES: THE YWCA IS THE LARGEST CHILDCARE PROVIDER IN CHEMUNG COUNTY OFFERING CARE TO FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN PRESCHOOL, ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL IN 16 SITES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY IN ITS PRE-K AND KIDS WORLD PROGRAMS. THE YWCA ALSO PROVIDES MENTORING AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMING AT A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL AND TO TEENS IN THE COMMUNITY.
RECREATION AND FITNESS: THE YWCA SERVES A COMMUNITY NEED BY PROVIDING A HEATED PUBLIC POOL, GYMNASIUM AND EXERCISE CENTER THAT SERVE A DIVERSE, LOW-INCOME AND OFTEN UNDERSERVED POPULATION. THE POOL PROVIDES SWIM LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS, AQUA EXERCISE CLASSES AND REHAB/THERAPY AND PROVIDES LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION FOR LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS AND AGENCIES. THE POOL WAS BUILT IN 1952 AND HAS BEEN THE COMMUNITY POOL SINCE INCEPTION. YWCA ALSO OFFERS LAND FITNESS IN THE FORM OF SENIOR EXERCISE PROGRAMS, KARATE, BASKETBALL, SOCCER AND MUCH MORE.
WOMEN'S HEALTH: THE YWCA IS AN ACTIVE LEADER IN BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS AND HAVE INITIATED NEW PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT WOMEN AND FAMILIES. THE PINK BOUTIQUE PROVIDES SERVICES TO WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER WITH A CERTIFIED FITTER TO ASSIST WITH PROSTHETICS, WIGS, BRAS AND MORE.
