THE SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE THE PAST OF ONEIDA COUNTY AND CENTRAL NEW YORK FOR PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. THE SOCIETY SEEKS TO MAKE THIS RICH HERITAGE READILY AVAILABLE TO RESEARCHERS, FAMILIES AND STUDENTS,ENHANCING THE COMMUNITY'S KNOWLEDGE AS WELL AS APPRECIATION OF ITS HISTORY.

MUSEUM EXHIBITS, LECTURES, AND LIBRARY/RESEARCH FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, MATERIALS THAT HAVE BEEN COLLECTED, PRESERVED AND OR COMMEMORATED THROUGH THE SOCIETY ARE USED TO FURTHER THE SOCIETY'S MISSION.OVER 2,900 VISITORS ANNUALLY TOUR THE OCHS FACILITY TO TAKE IN EXHIBITS, PERUSE THE BOOKSTORE, OR ATTEND ONE OF OVER 30 LECTURES, PRESENTATIONS, OR DVD SCREENINGS HELD IN THE MAIN GALLERY. OUTREACH EFFORTS INCLUDE SCHOOL VISITS, VIRTUAL PROGRAMS, LITERATURE DISTRIBUTION, AND PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL FESTIVALS AND OTHER OFF-SITE CULTURAL EVENTS.
