FAMILY ADVOCATES, INC. FOCUSED ITS EFFORTS ON SERVING SENIOR CITIZENS THROUGHOUT THE SERVICE AREA IN 2022 AND RETURNED TO DIRECT AND FACE TO FACE CONSULTATIONS AND FORMAL REPRESENTATION OF CLIENTS. IN PERSON CONSULTS WERE REINSTATED EXCEPT THIS YEAR ALL INTAKES ARE STILL DONE BY TELECONFERENCING. WE ONCE AGAIN WERE AWARDED THE COLUMBIA COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING LEGAL SERVICES GRANT FOR THE YEAR. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DETERMINED TO MAINTAIN A DECREASED EMPHASIS ON OUR PAST EDUCATION ADVOCACY PROGRAMS AND WE STILL DO NOT TO SEND REPRESENTATIVES TO SCHOOL-BASED MEETINGS OR HEARINGS. WE HAVE INSTEAD DETERMINED TO WORK WITH AND SUPPORT OTHER COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVOCACY. FAMILY ADVOCATES CONTINUED TO REPORT PROVISION OF BRIEF SERVICE, ADVICE AND ADVOCACY AND LEGAL REPRESENTATION, RELYING ON OUR ONE PART-TIME ATTORNEY AND THREE INTERMITTENT VOLUNTEERS. THE ANNUAL CASELOAD WAS 790 SENIORS SERVED ON ISSUES RELATING TO PUBLIC BENEFITS, WILL PREPARATION, ADVICE ON TRUSTS & OTHER QUESTIONS OF FUTURE CARE PLANNING, HOUSING, MEDICAL SERVICES, FAMILY AND CONTRACT LAW. SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSULTS WERE 45. WE MAINTAIN THE KINGSTON YWCA OFFICE AND HAD 2 IN PERSON BOARD MEETINGS AND A ZOOM CONFERENCE.
