THE PUBLIC UTILITY LAW PROJECT OF NEW YORK, INC. (UTILITY PROJECT) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROMOTING, ASSISTING, SUPPORTING, AND DEFENDING THE LEGAL RIGHTS OF LOW INCOME PERSONS AND OTHER CONSUMERS IN THEIR PROCUREMENT, USE, AND BENEFITS FROM SERVICES AND PRODUCTS SUPPLIED BY PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UTILITY ORGANIZATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PERFORMS EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC IN MANY CONSUMER UTILITY AREAS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO UNIVERSAL SERVICE, AFFORDABILITY, AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ISSUES IN ENERGY, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, AND OTHER ISSUES.THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SUPPORT ACTIVITIES, STRATEGIC ALLIANCES, AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES TO FACILITATE AND PROMOTE THE SHARING OF INFORMATION, EXPERTISE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND OTHER RESOURCES AMONG THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND REGULATORY AGENCIES.
