AS AN OUTGROWTH OF MONITORING, THE ASSOCIATION INTERVENES IN CASES BEFORE STATE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSIONS AND THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION (FERC).
THE ASSOCIATION HAS ESTABLISHED LOBBYING GROUPS WITH A STATE LOBBYIST WHO TRACKS ENERGY RESTRUCTURING ISSUES BEFORE THE STATE LEGISLATURE. MEMBERS ARE ASSESSED SEPARATE SPECIFIC FEES FOR LOBBYING. AT THE TIME THE SPECIFIC MEMBERS ARE ASSESSED, THEY ARE INFORMED THAT THE FEES ARE NON-DEDUCTIBLE.
THE ASSOCIATION HAS ESTABLISHED FEDERAL, REGIONAL AND STATE LEVEL MONITORING GROUPS WHICH RELY ON STATE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION COUNSEL WHO TRACK ENERGY RESTRUCTURING ISSUES BEFORE THE STATE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSIONS AND THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION.
