Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE 2020 ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC FORCED ST. BARTHOLOMEW'S CONSERVANCY NOT ONLY TO SUSPEND PUBLIC ACTIVITIES, BUT ALSO TO RETHINK WAYS IN WHICH THESE ACTIVITES WERE BEING APPROACHED. THE CONSERVANCY PLANNED AND DEVELOPED A SIX-PART VIDEO SERIES AS A COMPANION TO ITS UPCOMING GALA ORGAN CONCERT WITH THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA (ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 2020, IT WAS POSTPONED TO JUNE 2021, AND THEN AGAIN TO MAY 2022 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC). THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENT IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR MUCH-NEEDED RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH BUILDING EXTERIOR AND LIKEWISE TO PROTECT THE LARGEST PIPE ORGAN IN NEW YORK CITY WITH 12,422 PIPES. THE VIDEO SERIES WILL SERVE AS OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS MARKETING OF THE EVENT. A SMALL WORKING GROUP INCLUDING SEVERAL BOARD MEMBERS, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AND A COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT, RESEARCHED MATERIAL AND DRAFTED SCRIPTS FOR THE SIX VIDEOS, WHICH PROVIDE A BACKDROP AND ILLUMINATE WHY THE GALA CONCERT PROMISES TO BE SUCH A SINGULAR CULTURAL EVENT. EACH VIDEO SEGMENT IS INTRODUCED BY FORMER MET MUSEUM DIRECTOR, PHILIPPE DE MONTEBELLO, AND THE PRESENTERS ARE LIKEWISE STELLAR: AMERICAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MUSIC DIRECTOR AND BARD COLLEGE PRESIDENT, LEON BOTSTEIN; CELEBRATED ORGANIST AND NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC HARPSICHORDIST, PAOLO BORDIGNON; WORLD MONUMENTS FUND CEO, BENEDICTE DE MONTLAUR; METROPOLITAN OPERA SOPRANO, ANGEL BLUE; ART HISTORIAN AND BIOGRAPHER, KATHLEEN SKOLNIK; AND PRIZE-WINNING ARCHITECTURAL HISTORIAN, PAUL GOLDBERGER. FILMING WAS DONE IN 2021 BY GIL GILBERT PRODUCTIONS. THE CONSERVANCY PROVIDED GRANTS TO ST. BARTHOLOMEW'S CHURCH IN 2021 TOTALING $451,769. $350,000 WAS GIVEN TOWARDS RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH BUILDING'S NORTH FACADE.
