THE CONCERT CHOIR IS HIGHBRIDGE VOICES LARGEST PROGRAM, SERVING 70 STUDENTS, AGES NINE THROUGH EIGHTEEN. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY MUSICAL, ACADEMIC, AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. MUSICAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL VOICE LESSONS, MUSIC THEORY CLASSES, MUSIC HISTORY CLASSES, AND CHOIR REHEARSALS. ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES INCLUDE NEW YORK STATE STANDARDIZED TEST AND REGENTS EXAM PREPARATION, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALIZED AND GROUP TUTORING. STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE NEW OR ONGOING ACADEMIC DEFICIENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ADDITIONAL TUTORING SESSIONS AND TO MEET WITH AN ACADEMIC TEACHER OR TUTOR, AS NEEDED. THE CONCERT CHOIR PROGRAM OPERATES 5 DAYS PER WEEK, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, AND IS IN SESSION THIRTY-THREE WEEKS PER YEAR. THE CONCERT CHOIR GIVES PERFORMANCES IN THE BRONX COMMUNITY AND THROUGHOUT NEW YORK CITY.
THE CHAMBER CHOIR PROGRAM CONCERT CHOIR STUDENTS IN GRADES SEVEN TO TWELVE ARE ELIGIBLE TO AUDITION FOR HIGHBRIDGE VOICES PREMIER PERFORMING ENSEMBLE, THE CHAMBER CHOIR. THE CHAMBER CHOIR STUDIES MORE CHALLENGING REPERTOIRE, HOLDS THREE REHEARSALS EACH WEEK AND GIVES ON AVERAGE AN ADDITIONAL TEN PERFORMANCES PER SEASON. THERE ARE CURRENTLY FORTY-FIVE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE CHAMBER CHOIR.
SAT AND COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM FOR EIGHT WEEKS EACH SUMMER, RISING 11TH AND 12TH GRADE STUDENTS SPEND TWELVE HOURS EACH WEEK IN SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (SAT) PREP CLASSES, TO TAKE THE TEST THE FOLLOWING FALL. THESE STUDENTS ULTIMATELY TAKE THE SAT A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES BEFORE GRADUATION. SENIORS RECEIVE PERSONALIZED GUIDANCE IN NAVIGATING THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS, WHICH INCLUDES SELECTING AND APPLYING TO APPROPRIATE COLLEGES AS WELL AS OBTAINING SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID. ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS ARE ALSO GIVEN A PAID INTERNSHIP AT HIGHBRIDGE VOICES, WHICH THEY COMPLETE IN ADDITION TO ALL PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. THEY MUST BE PASSING ALL CLASSES IN ORDER TO WORK AS AN INTERN.
