IT IS THE MISSION OF THE GREATER NEWARK CHARTER SCHOOL (THE "CHARTER SCHOOL") TO BE THE BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL IN NEWARK, NEW JERSEY. THE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF SERVICES APPROPRIATE TO MEETING THE NEEDS OF ALL STUDENTS IN GRADES FIVE THROUGH EIGHT. THE DEFINING ATTRIBUTES OF THE CHARTER SCHOOL ARE ITS EMPHASIS ON A RIGOROUS, COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAMS, GOOD MENTAL HEALTH, AND CHARACTER EDUCATION.

EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2014, THE CHARTER SCHOOL CEASED ITS OPERATIONS AS A RESULT OF THE NON RENEWAL OF ITS CHARTER BY THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. DURING FISCAL YEARS 2015 TO 2021, ONLY DISSOLUTION ACTIVITIES WERE CONDUCTED SUCH AS COLLECTION OF RECEIVABLES, DISPOSITION OF ASSETS OWNED BY THE CHARTER SCHOOL AND DISPENSING OF LIABILITIES.
