NEW ROCHELLE LIGHTNING HOCKEY CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF THE COVID PANDEMIC DURING THE 2020-2021 SEASON. AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORCED TO ADAPT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ITS MEMBERSHIP, AND THE DEMANDS AND RESTIRCTIONS PLACED ON IT BY ITS GOVERNING BODY AND THE ICE SKATING RINKS FROM WHICH IT BUYS ICE TIME. NEVERTHELESS, THE ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO PERSEVERE AND EXPERIENCE ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR OF DEVELOPING A THRIVING ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM IN A TRADITIONALLY UNDERSERVED AREA OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY. MEMBERSHIP DURING THE 2020-2021 SEASON DIPPED SLIGHTLY TO AROUND 131 PLAYERS ACROSS 10 TEAMS AND A LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY PROGRAM FOR BEGINNERS THAT WE CONTINUE TO OFFER IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW YORK RANGERS.
