THE ORGANIZATION IS A NON-PROFIT THAT IS DEDICATED TO THE PROMOTION OF THE SPORTS OF HOCKEY AND FIGURE SKATING. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE SAFE, LOW-COST SKATING PROGRAMS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

NORTHSTAR ICE SPORTS - A TRIPLE ICE SURFACE SKATING FACILITY DEDICATED TO PROVIDING THE YOUTH AND ADULTS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES WITH A SAFE, CLEAN, MODERN FACILITY FOR PUBLIC SKATING, FIGURE SKATING, YOUTH HOCKEY, HIGH SCHOOL AND SENIOR SKATERS. THE ORGANIZATION STRIVES TO PROVIDE USE OF THE FACILITIES AT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE COST.
JIM FLANAGAN FUND IS A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR SECONDARY EDUCATION AWARDED ANNUALLY TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS FROM NORTHBORO, MA. THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED BY A COMMITTEE INDEPENDENT OF THE GOVERNING BOARD AND COORDINATED THROUGH LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS.REVIEW AND SELECTION PROCESS - THE COMMITTEE EVALUATES AND DISCUSSES EACH APPLICATION. JIM FLANAGAN'S PHILOSOPHY IS FOLLOWED BY NOT ALWAYS GIVING TO THE SUPERSTARS, BUT TO HARD WORKING, DESERVING STUDENTS. A LIST OF FINALISTS IS PREPARED. THE HEAD OF THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT AT ALGONQUIN REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IS CONSULTED REGARDING THE CHARACTER AND THE NUMBER OF OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS THAT WILL BE GIVEN TO A STUDENT. WE PREFER NOT TO GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WILL RECEIVE SEVERAL OTHER AWARDS.
