THE COOKE SCHOOL SERVES 300 DIVERSE STUDENTS IN ITS FOUR SCHOOL DIVISIONS: COOKE LOWER SCHOOL (K-5TH GRADE), COOKE MIDDLE SCHOOL (6TH-8TH GRADE), COOKE UPPER SCHOOL (9TH-12TH GRADE) AND THE TRANSITIONS PROGRAM (AGES 18-21 YEARS). STUDENTS RECEIVE MEANINGFUL, DIFFERENTIATED SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION THAT PROMOTES SELF-DETERMINATION AND FOSTERS INDEPENDENCE. THROUGH A COMBINATION OF ROBUST ACADEMICS AND INTEGRATED THERAPEUTIC SERVICES (PROVIDED BY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, SPEECH AND LANGUAGE, OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS), STUDENTS LEARN TO BECOME VALUED MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. A COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ARE HALLMARKS OF A COOKE EDUCATION. STUDENTS TAKE PART IN A COMPREHENSIVE TRANSITION PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES INTERNSHIP PLACEMENTS AND COMMUNITY-BASED ACTIVITIES THAT FOSTER VOCATIONAL READINESS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF LIFE SKILLS.
THE COOKE INSTITUTE (CI) FURTHERS COOKE'S MISSION TO SHARE OUR KNOWLEDGE WITH EDUCATORS IN THE BROADER COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING TEACHER TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES TO A VARIETY OF SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS. CI WORKS WITH EDUCATORS TO ELEVATE OUTCOMES IN GENERAL AND SPECIAL EDUCATION BY PROVIDING CONSULTING AND TRAINING SERVICES IN MORE THAN 800 PREK-8TH GRADE CLASSROOMS. CI PARTNERS WITH NYC PUBLIC, NON-PUBLIC AND CHARTER SCHOOLS IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES WITH DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATIONS AND IS AN APPROVED NYC DOE VENDOR AND NYSED CTLE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROVIDER.
