THE GATEWAY SCHOOL IS A K-8, INDEPENDENT DAY SCHOOL THAT TRANSFORMS THE LIVES OF BRIGHT STUDENTS WITH LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DISABILITIES AND ATTENTION DEFICITS. AT GATEWAY, OUR STUDENTS BECOME SKILLED, STRATEGIC LEARNERS AND CONFIDENT SELF-ADVOCATES. RELYING ON DIRECT, MULTISENSORY INSTRUCTION AND GUIDED BY AN INTEGRATED CURRICULUM, EXPERT FACULTY TEACH STUDENTS THE LANGUAGE, LITERACY, AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS THAT ARE THE FOUNDATIONS FOR SUCCESS IN MAINSTREAM EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS AND BEYOND. THE GATEWAY SCHOOL PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO 155 STUDENTS, AGES 6-14, AND ALSO PROVIDED LANGUAGE AND COUNSELING TO ALL STUDENTS. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IS ALSO PROVIDED IN LOWER SCHOOL. THE GATEWAY SCHOOL OF NEW YORK TEACHES CHILDREN WITH LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DISABILITIES AND/OR ATTENTION DEFICIT THE SKILLS AND STRATEGIES NECESSARY TO BECOME INDEPENDENT LEARNERS ABLE TO IDENTIFY AND ADVOCATE FOR THEIR NEEDS. GATEWAY PREPARES STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS IN COLLEGE PREPARATORY HIGH SCHOOLS. IT ENSURES THEY ACQUIRE SKILLS AND STRATEGIES THEY CAN APPLY TOWARDS THE MASTERY OF MORE COMPLEX ACADEMIC MATERIAL, AND DEVELOP A SOUND SENSE OF SELF. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.GATEWAY STUDENTS TRANSITION TO MAINSTREAM SCHOOL SETTINGS WHEN IT IS CLEAR THEY CAN DO SO SUCCESSFULLY.
