THE BRANCH LIBRARIES - THE SERVICES OF THE 88 BRANCH LIBRARIES EXTEND FAR BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL LENDING ROLE USUALLY ASSOCIATED WITH NEIGHBORHOOD LIBRARIES, TO PROVIDE VITAL OUTREACH SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO SCHOOLS, NURSING HOMES, HOSPITALS, SHELTERS AND PRISONS, AND TO THE BLIND AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED, INCLUDING BOOK-BY-MAIL DELIVERIES TO THE HOMEBOUND. THE RESEARCH LIBRARIES - DURING FISCAL YEAR 2021, THE FOUR RESEARCH LIBRARIES - THE STEPHEN A.
