JANE ADDAMS PEACE ASSOCIATION CONTINUED TO EXPAND THE BOOKS IN THEIR HANDS PROGRAM SERVING MORE THAN 1,000 STUDENTS IN 2023 THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH LIBRARIES AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THE PEACE ASSOCIATION COMPLETED ITS SECOND YEAR OF A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH BRINGING BLACK AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS TO CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS ADDRESSING TOPICS OF DIVERSITY, PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE. THE PEACE ASSOCIATION DONATES A JANE ADDAMS CHILDREN'S BOOK AWARD FINALIST, HONOR, OR WINNING BOOK TO EACH STUDENT. JANE ADDAMS PEACE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCED 24 FINALISTS FOR THE 2023 CHILDREN'S BOOK AWARD. THE PEACE ASSOCIATION HOSTED ITS 70TH CHILDREN'S BOOK AWARD CEREMONY IN 2023. SEVERAL CLASSES FROM THE BOUCHET INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL JOINED THE CEREMONY AT THE CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY. ONE WINNER IN EACH OLDER CHILDREN'S BOOK CATEGORY AND YOUNGER CHILDREN'S BOOK CATEGORY WERE HONORED AS WELL AS TWO FINALISTS IN EACH CATEGORY.
