RESIDENTIAL SERVICES - THE COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES (RESIDENTIAL) DIVISION OF JAWONIO, INC., PROVIDES SERVICES TO ADULTS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF PHYSICAL, BEHAVIORAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. THE FOCUS OF COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES (RESIDENTIAL) IS TO ASSIST THE PERSONS SERVED IN ACHIEVING THEIR HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-DIRECTION. JAWONIO'S COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES PROVIDES SERVICES IN DIVERSE SETTINGS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS. INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITIES (1) - THIS HOME PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL & HABILITATIVE SUPPORTS IN A TWENTY-FOUR HOUR SUPERVISED SETTING FOR 20 INDIVIDUALS. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST PERSONS WITH SEVERE INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND/OR SEVERE MEDICAL FRAILTIES TO BECOME AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE. COMPREHENSIVE ON-SITE MEDICAL SUPERVISION IS PROVIDED. INDIVIDUALIZED RESIDENTIAL ALTERNATIVES (12) - JAWONIO PROVIDE HOMES IN THE COMMUNITY SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED AND FURNISHED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULT. THESE PROGRAMS DIFFER FROM THE ICF RESIDENCES IN THAT THE INDIVIDUALS REQUIRE LESS MEDICAL OVERSIGHT AND CARE, AND FOR THE MOST PART ARE ABLE TO GO INTO THE COMMUNITY FOR DAY AND RECREATION PROGRAMS. TWENTY-FOUR HOUR SUPERVISION AND ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED. THE CONDOMINIUM PROGRAM (6) - SERVICES DEVELOPED SPECIFIC TO INDIVIDUALS' NEEDS ARE PROVIDED IN ONE AND TWO BEDROOM CONDOMINIUMS IN THE COMMUNITY. LOW COST HOUSING IS PROVIDED THROUGH THE OFFICE OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR SIX CONDOMINIUMS. THE PAUL J. TENDLER INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER (17) - THIS GARDEN APARTMENT COMPLEX PROVIDES SERVICE AND LOW COST HOUSING TO 17 PEOPLE. ALL BUT ONE APARTMENT ARE SINGLE OCCUPANCY, PROVIDING DIGNITY AND PRIVACY TO EACH INDIVIDUAL. THESE PROGRAMS ALLOW INDIVIDUALS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR INDEPENDENCE WHILE STILL PROVIDING NECESSARY SUPPORTS AND SERVICES.
1) JAWONIO DAY SERVICES - PROVIDES CENTER-BASED AND COMMUNITY-BASED HABILITATION, SELF ADVOCACY, SOCIAL SKILLS AND REINFORCES APPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS FOR ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. JAWONIO DAY SERVICES HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE WHITE HOUSE, THE NYS SENATE AND LEGISLATURE FOR ITS ADVOCACY FOR SERVICES AND PROGRAMS ASSISTING PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. PARTICIPANTS VOLUNTEER IN THE COMMUNITY AND LEARN VOCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT SKILLS. 2) EMPLOYMENT SERVICES - JAWONIO IS THE LEADING PROVIDER OF VOCATIONAL AND JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES IN THE MID-HUDSON REGION OF NEW YORK STATE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES SINCE 1987. WE HAVE PLACED MORE THAN 6,000 INDIVIDUALS IN JOBS THAT ARE BUILT AROUND EACH PERSON'S INDIVIDUALIZED NEEDS, AND WHAT THE EMPLOYER NEEDS FOR HIS OR HER BUSINESS.
1) JAWONIO EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES - JAWONIO, INC. IS CERTIFIED BY THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. WE WORK CLOSELY WITH OUR LOCAL ROCKLAND COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR OUR EARLY INTERVENTION (EI) PROGRAM (AGES: BIRTH TO 3). OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION PRESCHOOL IS CERTIFIED BY THE NYS STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, THE NYS OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES AND WE HAVE EXTREMELY CLOSE PROFESSIONAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALL OF OUR SCHOOL DISTRICTS INCLUDING SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION AND EDUCATIONAL-BASED GROUPS (I.E.: SEPTA), THERAPISTS AND STAFF THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE. JAWONIO HAS A REPUTATION OF EXCELLENCE PROVIDING SERVICES FOR CHILDREN, THEIR FAMILIES AND CIRCLES OF SUPPORT FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS SINCE 1947. JAWONIO, INC. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SERVICES HAS ALSO SEEN AN INCREASE IN CHILDREN WITH BEHAVIORAL/MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES. WE PROVIDE INDIVIDUALIZED, INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC STRATEGIES INCLUDING IPAD USE TO UTILIZE TECHNOLOGY AS A WAY OF PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED CRITICAL SUPPORTS AND SERVICES TO CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. JAWONIO, INC. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SERVICES (ECES) SUPPORTS FAMILIES ON-SITE AT OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION PRESCHOOL AND EI LOCATIONS, AS WELL AS AT HOME THERAPIES INCLUDING SPEECH, OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPIES. WE ALSO PROVIDE INNOVATIVE AND INTEGRATED CLASSROOMS FOR CHILDREN WITH DELAYS WHO CAN JOIN THEIR TYPICALLY DEVELOPING PEERS (UP TO AGE 5) IN OUR PRE-SCHOOL AND AFTER SCHOOL SERVICES FOR CHILDREN UP TO AGE 12. 2) JAWONIO SUMMER EDUCATION - PROVIDES A 6-WEEK "BRIDGE" FOR A THERAPEUTIC AND NYS CERTIFIED SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL-BASED CURRICULUM AND ROCKLAND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT APPROVED SETTING FOR CHILDREN AGES 5-21.
