THE YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NEW ROCHELLE, INC. ('THE NRYMCA") PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO NEW ROCHELLE, PELHAM, MT. VERNON, LARCHMONT, THE BRONX, AS WELL AS THEIR SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THE NRYMCA HAS OVER 4,000 MEMBERS AND IS SUPPORTED PRIMARILY THROUGH MEMBERSHIP, GRANTS AND PROGRAM FEES, AS WELL AS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ITS MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY. NRYMCA IS A MEMBER OF A NATIONAL YMCA MOVEMENT, COMPRISED OF YMCA OF THE USA (Y-USA), A NATIONAL RESOURCE. THE NRYMCA ACCOMPLISHES ITS MISSION THROUGH SEVEN DEPARTMENTS OF PROGRAM AND MEMBER SERVICES. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY, THROUGH THE Y, MILLIONS OF YOUTH TODAY ARE CULTIVATING THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS - IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2021, APPROXIMATELY 156 CHILDREN ATTENDED THE NRYMCA AFTERSCHOOLPROGRAM IN TWO OF OUR Y SITES IN NEW ROCHELLE. PROGRAMS OFFER TUTORIAL ASSISTANCE, HEALTHY SNACKS, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, SWIMMING, ARTS AND SOCIAL COMPETENCY SKILLS, ALL LED BY TRAINED, CARING, POSITIVE ADULT ROLE MODELS. HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES CAN REMAIN GAINFULLY EMPLOYED WHILE THEIR CHILDREN ARE ENGAGED IN QUALITY, AFFORDABLE CARE. FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY. UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN - DURING 2020, OVER 54 KIDS ATTENDED OUR HALF-DAY UPK ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS (MORNING AND AFTERNOON) FOR THREE AND FOUR YEAR OLDS. WHILE COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT AND SCHOOL READINESS ARE A PRIMARY FOCUS OF THESE PROGRAMS, WE REACH OUT TO THE FAMILIES TO ENGAGE THEM IN OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE NRYMCA. 99% OF THE CHILDREN SERVICED WERE HISPANIC AND SPOKE ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. DAY CAMPS - YMCA CAMP NEW ROCHELLE SUMMER DAY CAMP IS DESIGNED TO OFFER CHILDREN FROM PRE-K TO 8TH GRADE A WIDE VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES THAT ARE SURE TO KEEP THEM ENTERTAINED AND PREVENTING SUMMER LEARNING LOSS. INTERTWINED INTO ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES ARE FOUR CHARACTER VALUES OF CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, AND RESPONSIBILITY. WE INCORPORATE STRESS THESE VALUES IN OUR SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY PROGRAMS, WHICH WILL HELP IN BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND MATURITY AMONG OUR CAMPERS. FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY. HEALTHY LIVING: IMPROVING THE NATION'S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING IN COMMUNITIES CROSS THE NATION, Y-USA IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. WITH A MISSION CENTERED ON BALANCE, Y-USA BRINGS FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGES GOOD HEALTH AND FOSTERS CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT, MILLIONS OF YOUTH, ADULTS AND FAMILIES ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH AND WELL-BEING FOR THEIR SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. AQUATICS - MORE THAN 1450 CHILDREN & ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN SWIM LESSONS, AQUATIC EXERCISE OR SWIM TEAM IN 2019 AND 2020. FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY. WE ALSO PROVIDE AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER SAFETY, CPR, AND LIFEGUARD COURSES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. YOUTH SPORTS - WE PROVIDE A SERIES OF SPORTS/RECREATION PROGRAMS FOR AGES 3-18, INCLUDING BASKETBALL, SOCCER, KARATE, TENNIS AND BALLET. ALL PROGRAMS FOCUS ON SOCIAL COMPETENCY SKILLS, TEAMWORK, AND MUTUAL RESPECT, INSTILLING THE FOUR CORE VALUES OF THE YMCA AND DEVELOPING A LIFELONG INTEREST IN RECREATION/FITNESS. IN 2020, MORE THAN 260 KIDS TOOK PART IN OUR BASKETBALL CLINICS, SOCCER PROGRAMS, KARATE LESSONS, BALLET AND OUR TENNIS PROGRAM. FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY. TEEN PROGRAMS - THE NRYMCA OFFERS OPEN GYM TIME FOR TEENS, AS WELL AS YOUTH SPORTS INCLUDING OUR BASKETBALL TEAM. ADULT PROGRAMS - WE HAVE A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS GEARED TO ADULTS, INCLUDING ADULT SOCCER AND BASKETBALL, TO OUR AGING COMMUNITY THAT SUPPORT A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE LIKE: AQUA-ZUMBA, AQUACISE, SILVER SPLASH, CHAIR YOTAILATES, BODY FIT, SCULP AND STRETCH, ZUMBA, TAI CHI, TURBO KICK AND VINYASA FLOW YOGA. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Y-USA HAS BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITIES' MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR 160 YEARS. WHETHER DEVELOPING SKILLS OR EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING THROUGH EDUCATION AND TRAINING, WELCOMING AND CONNECTING DIVERSE DEMOGRAPHIC POPULATIONS THROUGH GLOBAL SERVICES, OR PREVENTING CHRONIC DISEASE AND BUILDING HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES THROUGH COLLABORATIONS WITH POLICYMAKERS, Y-USA AND ITS MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS FOSTER THE CARE AND RESPECT THAT ALL PEOPLE NEED AND DESERVE. THROUGH THE YMCA MOVEMENT, MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS, DONORS, COMMUNITY LEADERS AND PARTNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE EMPOWERING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN THE U.S. AND AROUND THE WORLD TO BE HEALTHY, CONFIDENT, CONNECTED AND SECURE. THIS NRYMCA ORGANIZES SPEAKERS AND EVENTS AROUND IMPORTANT HEALTH, WELLNESS, JOB READINESS, MENTORING AND OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES. NRYMCA STAFF WORKS CLOSELY WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF ISSUES, ASSIST WITH OBTAINING TOWELS, FACE CLOTHS AND OTHER PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, AS WELL AS SUPPORT MOBILE SHOWERS FOR THE HOMELESS PROGRAM, GARNER FOOD, CLOTHING, BACK TO SCHOOL ITEMS AND OTHER DONATIONS FOR THOSE THAT NEED HELP THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY. COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS: IN 2019, THE NRYMCA WORKED WITH PELHAM RECREATION, BOYS SCOUT TROOP ONE OF PELHAM, CAMPERSHIP FUND, SHOTOKAN KARATE SCHOOL, NEW ROCHELLE COUNCIL OF COMMUNITY SERVICES, BLOOD BANK AT SOUND SHORE MEDICAL CENTER, HOPE COMMUNITY SERVICES, INC., NEW ROCHELLE ROTARY CLUB, PELHAM ROTARY CLUB, PELHAM JUNIOR LEAGUE, MY BROTHER'S KEEPER, AND FEEDING WESTCHESTER.
