AS A NON-COLLECTING MUSEUM, SCULPTURECENTER'S ANNUAL EXHIBITION PROGRAM INCLUDES 3-6 SOLO AND GROUP EXHIBITIONS (MOST CONSISTING ENTIRELY OF NEWLY COMMISSIONED WORKS) AND THE IN PRACTICE OPEN CALL PROGRAM, WHICH FEATURES NEWLY COMMISSIONED SOLO EXHIBITIONS BY UP TO 7 EMERGING ARTISTS. TO FACILITATE DEEP PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND ENCOURAGE DIALOGUE BETWEEN VISITORS, ARTISTS, AND THEIR WORK, SCULPTURECENTER HOSTS FREE EVENTS AND PROGRAMS THAT COMPLEMENT OUR EXHIBITIONS, SUCH AS LECTURES, PERFORMANCES, AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS, WITH LEADERS IN THE FIELD OF CONTEMPORARY ART AND OTHER RELATED FIELDS.IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, SCULPTURECENTER PRESENTED 4 CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED EXHIBITIONS, SHOWCASING 29 ARTISTS: HENRIKE NAUMANN: RE-EDUCATION, THE GERMAN ARTIST'S U.S. DEBUT; TIRZAH, A UNIQUE EXHIBITION OF THE MUSICIAN'S RELATIONSHIP TO ART PRODUCTION, DESIGNED BY ARTIST SHAHRYAR NASHAT AND PRESENTING THE WORK OF 7 VIDEO ARTISTS; EDGAR CALEL: B'ALAB'J (JAGUAR STONE), A MAJOR NEW EARTHWORK INSTALLATION; AND CFGNY IN RESIDENCE, A PROGRAMMATIC RESIDENCY BY A 4-MEMBER ARTIST COLLECTIVE WITH PUBLIC EVENTS AND ROTATING SUB-EXHIBITIONS. FISCAL YEAR 2023 ALSO MARKED THE INAUGURATION OF A NEW FORMAT FOR SCULPTURECENTER'S IN PRACTICE OPEN CALL. THE PROGRAM, WHICH RECEIVES APPROXIMATELY 1,200 APPLICATIONS ANNUALLY, NOW OFFERS SOLO EXHIBITIONS TO UP TO 7 EMERGING ARTISTS WHO HAVE NOT YET EXHIBITED IN A NEW YORK INSTITUTION. IN PRACTICE 2023 BEGAN WITH SOLO EXHIBITIONS BY ARTISTS JORDAN LOEPPKY-KOLESNIK AND SALIM GREEN; MORE SOLO EXHIBITIONS IN THE SERIES FOLLOWED IN FISCAL YEAR 2024.SCULPTURECENTER'S DIVERSE PROGRAMMING EXPANDS UPON ITS MISSION AND ENRICHES THE DISCOURSE BETWEEN ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, SCULPTURECENTER HOSTED 12 FREE IN-PERSON PUBLIC PROGRAMS, INCLUDING PUBLICATION LAUNCHES, ARTIST TALKS, MUSIC PROGRAMMING, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, WALKING TOURS, POETRY READINGS, OPENING VIEWINGS, AND MORE.
