RELIEF AID AND ASSISTANCE TO DISABLED & INDIGENT VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES

PROGRAM SERVICES MEMORIAL DAY PARADE: THE BALDWIN POST SPONSERS THE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE AND SOLICITS MARCHERS FROM 80 LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, OBTAINING PERMITS FROM THE COUNTY, TOWN PARK AND LOCAL POLICE UNITS. THE PARADE CONSISTS OF 6 DIVISIONS OF 700 MARCHERS PER DIVISION, WITH 8 BANDS. MEMORIAL DAY IS A TOWN CELEBRATION, ALL LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS ARE REPRESENTED. THE PARADE ENDS UP AT SILVER LAKE PARK, WHERE POLITICAL, CIVIC AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS ADDRESS THE MARCHERS. A COLLATION IS HELD AT THE POST FOLLOWING AND THE WHOLE TOWN IS INVITED. INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS ARE MADE BY LOCAL MERCHANTS, STORES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP DEFRAY THE COST OF THE PARADE. THE INSURANCE FOR THE PARADE IS WHOLLY PAID BY THE POST. THE POST PROVIDES THE SPEAKERS STAND, PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM, FLOWERS, WREATHS, BUTTONS, TROPIES AND PROGRAMS AS WELL AS ALL MANPOWER FOR THE 4 TO 5 MONTHS PREPARATION.


POST PROVIDED CHRISTMAS PARTIES FOR DISABLED AND OTHER VETERANS AND CHILDREN FROM THE TOWN AND PRESENTED FOOD BASKETS TO THE NEEDY AND SHUT INS.


POST NEEDY VETERANS PROGRAM, THE POST PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO TEPORARILY DISTRESSES AND UNEMPLOYED NEEDY VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO ASSIST THEM IN GETTING BACK ON THEIR FEET.
