THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY REPRESENTATION FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN CONVICTED OF CRIMES AND CANNOT AFFORD PRIVATE LAWYERS. THE ORGANIZATION BELIEVES IN FIGHTING FOR EVERY PERSON'S CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL AND IN WORKING TO OVERTURN UNJUST CONVICTIONS OR SENTENCES.

CONTRACT WITH NEW YORK CITY TO PROVIDE APPELLATE LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO INDIGENTS WHO ARE APPEALING JUDGEMENTS OF CRIMINAL CONVICTION. APPROXIMATELY 1,083 CASES WERE ASSIGNED DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2023. IN ADDITION TO APPEALS, THE ORGANIZATION HAS A NUMBER OF SPECIAL PROJECTS TO PROVIDE FULLER REPRESENTATION TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE CONVICTED OF CRIME.
