PECONIC LANDING, WE STRIVE TO BRING TOGETHER INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES BY SERVING AS A VIBRANT COMMUNITY CENTER AND CULTURAL ARTS HUB FOR THE EAST END. THROUGH OUR INNOVATIVE SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY PROGRAM, INDIVIDUALS CAN IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN A GREAT VARIETY OF CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, WELLNESS, AND HELPFUL OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FREE TO THE PUBLIC THAT ARE DESIGNED TO INSPIRE AND ENGAGE. EACH EVENT IS HOSTED WITH THE PURPOSE OF ENRICHING THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO TAKE PART. OUR COMMUNITY DOES THIS WITH ONE COMMON GOAL IN MIND: TO MAKE A POSITIVE, MEASURABLE IMPACT, IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WHO WORK AND LIVE ON THE EAST END.THE FOLLOWING EVENTS TOOK PLACE IN 2022 FOR THE RESIDENTS OF PECONIC LANDING:JOHN MAY MILE: ANNUAL RUN / WALK TO BENEFIT THE GREENPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT. SINCE INCEPTION IN 2005, THIS EVENT HAS RAISED IN EXCESS OF $325,000 FOR THE GFD, INCLUDING $23,125 IN 2022. THESE FUNDS GO TOWARDS THE PURCHASE AND MAINTENANCE OF RESCUE EQUIPMENT VITAL TO KEEPING THE VOLUNTEERS SAFE DURING RESPONSE EFFORTS. THE 2022 OLDER AMERICAN'S CHAMPION AWARD WENT TO THE GREENPORT FIRE DEPT AND RESCUE SQUAD. THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC, EMS PERSONNEL WERE OUT IN PEOPLE'S HOMES, AND AS WELL AS HERE FOR US AT PECONIC LANDING. THEY WERE SAVING LIVES AS THEY ALWAYS DO, PUTTING THEMSELVES AT RISK MORE THAN EVER BEFORE.20TH ANNIVERSARY MUSIC AND FIREWORKS CELEBRATION: IN CELEBRATION OF OUR 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PL HOSTED THE EVENT FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. MUSIC PROVIDED ON THE PATIO AT BH BY THE GORDON DUKES BAND FOLLOWED BY A FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA OVER THE PONDS. ESTIMATE OF OVER 1000 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.10TH ANNUAL VETERAN'S DAY BRECKOCK HALL WEDDING GIVEBACK: IN TRIBUTE TO CATHERINE BERTSCHI AND DAMEN WEEKS, BOTH ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL, SHE ON HER THIRD TOUR, HE ON HIS FOURTH. IN COORDINATION WITH OVER 40 LOCAL BUSINESSES, THE EVENT IS A GIVEAWAY OF A FREE WEDDING IN HONOR OF THE SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY BY ONE LUCKY COUPLE. THE WINNING COUPLE WAS CHOSEN BY A GROUP OF PECONIC LANDING MEMBERS WITH MILITARY TIES WHO JUDGED THE CONTEST BASED ON YEARS SERVED, NUMBER OF MILITARY HONORS AND THE COUPLE'S PERSONAL LOVE STORY.
