TENANT SERVICES: THE ORGANIZATION ORGANIZES AND ADVOCATES FOR LOW-INCOME, MOSTLY IMMIGRANT TENANTS AND TO PREVENT THE EVICTION AND DISPLACEMENT OF TENANTS IN DISPUTES WITH THEIR LANDLORD OVER RENT AND/OR REPAIRS AND TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE IN STABLE, HEALTHY HOSUING THEY CAN AFFORD. IN ADDITION TO BUILDING AND TENANT ORGANIZING, AND INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY, WORKSHOPS ARE HELD ABOUT TENANT RIGHTS AND TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL TENANT LEADERS, AND REFERRALS TO LEGAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ARE MADE. DURING THE YEAR APPROXIMATELY 200 PARTICIPANTS RECEIVED ADVOCACY COUNSELING, ADVOCACY, AND EVICTION PREVENTION SERVICES.
HOME OWNERSHIP AND FORECLOSURE PREVENTION SERVICES: THE ORGANIZATION HELD HOMEBUYER EDUCATION SEMINARS TARGETED TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS, PROVIDES PERSONAL FINANCIAL COUNSELING TO FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS AND THOSE FACING FORECLOSURE, ASSISTS IN SECURING DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE, REFINANCING AND MORTGAGE LOAN MODIFICATIONS.
