LDEI IS AN INVITATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN LEADERS IN FOOD, BEVERAGE, AND HOSPITALITY WHOSE MISSION IS EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND PHILANTHROPHY.

LDEI'S LARGEST EVENT IS THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. IT WAS HELD IN 2021 IN SAN ANTONIO, BUT WAS POORLY ATTENDEED BECAUSE OF THE LASTING EFFECTS OF COVID AND THE POLITICAL CLIMATE IN THE STATE. THE CONFERENCE INCLUDES THE ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING AND TRAINING FOR CHAPTER VOLUNTEER LEADERS. LDEI IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL CHAPTERS IN THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE AND PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS. THE CONFERENCE LOST MONEY DUE TO CONTRACTUAL GUARANTEES THAT WERE NOT MET BECUASE OF THE LACK OF ATTENDANCE.
ALL REMAINING PROGRAM EXPENSES.
THE GROWTH GRANTS PROGRAM WAS INSPIRED BY THOSE WHO WERE NOMINATED FOR THE WOMAN OF PURPOSE PROGRAM, WHICH RECOGNIZES WOMEN WHO ARE MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON A LOCAL OR GLOBAL COMMUNITY INCORPORATING SUSTAINABILITY, FOOD JUSTICE AND PUBLIC HEALTH. APPLICANTS WERE ASKED TO SUBMIT AN ESSAY STATING HOW A GRANT WOULD HELP EXPAND THEIR ORGANIZATIONS ABILITY TO PROVIDE SERVICES THAT PRODUCE EQUITABLE OUTCOMES FOR THEIR COMMUNITY.
