Part 3 - Line 4a
EDUCATION & ADVOCACY - PUBLIC POLICY: IN 2021, MOVEON MEMBERS HARNESSED THEIR COLLECTIVE POWER THROUGH PETITION DELIVERIES, PROTESTS, AND GRASSROOTS ENERGY TO ADDRESS A RANGE OF ISSUES. MEMBERS MOBILIZED TO SAFEGUARD OUR DEMOCRACY, FIGHT MISINFORMATION, AND DEMAND INVESTMENT IN OUR CHILDREN, HEALTH CARE, AND PLANET. WHEN 19 STATES ENACTED LAWS THAT WILL MAKE IT HARDER TO VOTE, MOVEON QUICKLY PRODUCED EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS THAT WERE ROLLED OUT ON OUR SOCIAL CHANNELS TO SHAPE THE NARRATIVE AROUND ABOLISHING THE FILIBUSTER AND EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON THE SURGE OF ANTI-VOTING LAWS. WE ALSO PRODUCED VIDEOS TO ENCOURAGE SUPPORT FOR PROPELLING THE BUILD BACK BETTER ACT FORWARD. ULTIMATELY, THE BILL WAS PASSED IN THE HOUSE.
EDUCATION & ADVOCACY - FOREIGN POLICY:IN MAY 2021, MOVEON WAS THE FIRST MULTI-ISSUE PROGRESSIVE ORGANIZATION TO PUT OUT A STATEMENT SPECIFICALLY CALLING ON PRESIDENT BIDEN TO DE-ESCALATE THE CRISIS IN PALESTINE AND ISRAEL AS IT INTENSIFIED. (SEE SCHEDULE O)FURTHERMORE, IN 2021, THE UNITED STATES' LONGEST WAR, IN AFGHANISTAN, ENDED. MOVEON MEMBERS HAD LONG CALLED FOR THE END OF OUR MILITARY PRESENCE IN AFGHANISTAN-AND WE SUPPORTED THE END OF THE WAR WHILE ALSO PUSHING TO ENSURE AMERICA HAD A PLAN IN PLACE TO SUPPORT THE AFGHAN PEOPLE. OVER 125,000 MOVEON MEMBERS PETITIONED FOR THE UNITED STATES TO PRIORITIZE THE PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES BY LIFTING REFUGEE CAPS, INCREASING HUMANITARIAN AID, AND ENSURING SAFE EVACUATION FROM THE COUNTRY. MOVEON MEMBERS SHOWED UP WITH MONETARY SUPPORT WHEN IT WAS NEEDED MOST, RAISING MORE THAN $800,000 TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS IN BOTH AFGHANISTAN AND HAITI, WHERE A DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE STRUCK IN AUGUST.
EDUCATION & ADVOCACY - CORONAVIRUS RELIEF:THROUGHOUT 2021, MOVEON MEMBERS MOBILIZED FOR MEANINGFUL RELIEF IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
