FPSPOFCT PREPARES CONNECTICUT'S STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE BY TEACHING THEM ESSENTIAL PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS WHILE HELPING THEM IMPROVE WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS, WORK COOPERATIVELY, DEVELOP RESEARCH SKILLS, LEARN ABOUT COMPLEX SOCIAL AND SCIENTIFIC ISSUES, AND THINK CREATIVELY, CRITICALLY AND ANALYTICALLY. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED MATERIALS AND EVALUATIONS FOR APPROXIMATELY 450 STUDENTS ACROSS THE STATE IN 20 SCHOOL DISTRICTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN COMPETITIVE PROBLEM SOLVING ACTIVITIES WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 28 ADULT COACHES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED AN ANNUAL COMPETITION EVENT WITH MATERIALS AND EVALUATIONS FOR QUALIFYING STUDENT PARTICIPANTS. THE PROGRAM HOSTED 3 SEMINARS WITH EXPERT SPEAKERS ON RELEVANT EDUCATIONAL TOPICS.
