THE WINDHAM TEXTILE AND HISTORY MUSEUM (THE MILL MUSEUM), LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC FORMER HEADQUARTERS OF THE AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY OF WILLIMANTIC, CONNECTICUT, IS A PRIVATE, MEMBERSHIP-BASED, NONPROFIT, 501(C)3 EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INCORPORATED IN 1989 IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT, SERVING THE GENERAL PUBLIC. LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC FORMER HEADQUARTERS OF THE AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY IN WILLIMANTIC, CONNECTICUT, THE MUSEUM HOUSES A MUSEUM, A LIBRARY, AND AN ARCHIVE. THE MUSEUM IS OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND THAT ATTRACTS ABOUT 1,500 VISITORS, OPERATING WITH MULTIPLE STAFF MEMBERS AND PLENTY OF ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS FOR TOURS. THE MUSEUM ALSO MAINTAINS A COLLECTION OF 25,000 PLUS OF HISTORIC ARTIFACTS AND AS WELL AS A LIBRARY. THEY CONDUCT A SERIES OF EDUCATION HISTORY AND TEXTILE PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDE SPEAKERS, WEAVING LESSONS, SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND WALKING TOURS.
