TWO 500 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO PROMISING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WERE PLANNING TO SEEK A CAREER IN AGRICULTURE VIA THEIR COLLEGE EDUCATION. THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FUNDED THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS AND ARE ADMINISTERRED THROUGH A SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND. STUDENT APPLICATIONS ARE EVALUATED BY A SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHICH ALSO INCLUDES SECONDARY SCHOOL OFFICALS FROM LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
SIGNIFICANT FUNDING IS RECEIVED FROM BUILDING AND OFFICE RENTALS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES OF THE USDA. THROUGH THE OWNERSHIP, MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP OF OUR FACILITIES, WE PROVIDE A VENUE FOR AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION. DIRECT PARTICIPATION IN OR PROVIDING FUNDING FOR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RARELY TAKES PLACE IN OR ON OUR FACILITIES. RATHER THE PROGRAMS ARE ADMINISTERED BY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE CHARGED FACILITIES USAGE FEES.
