DAY ONE'S MISSION IS TO REDUCE THE PREVALENCE OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND VIOLENCE, AND SUPPORT AND ADVOCATE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY IT. ITS MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES ARE COUNSELING, ADVOCACY, AND EDUCATION.

CLINICAL- DAY ONE PROVIDES COUNSELING SERVICES TO CHILD AND ADULT VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND TO THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS. INDIVIDUAL, GROUP AND FAMILY COUNSELING ARE AVAILABLE ON A SLIDING SCALE FEE BASIS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE UNDER-INSURED AND FREE OF CHARGE FOR THOSE WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. DURING THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2021, THE AGENCY PROVIDED CLINICAL SERVICES TO 563 INDIVIDUALS,(162 CHILDREN AND 336 ADULTS).
EDUCATION AND TRAINING - DAY ONE'S EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDE PREVENTION EDUCATION WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS, SERVING K-12, AS WELL AS COLLEGE STUDENTS. IN ADDITION, THE AGENCY OFFERS PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR HOSPITALS, POLICE DEPARTMENTS, PROSECUTION, AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS, AS WELL AS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, ON ISSUES RELATING TO SEXUAL ABUSE, SEXUAL HARASSMENT, AND SEXUAL ASSAULT. A TOTAL OF 3,397 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS DURING 2021.
ADVOCACY - LOCAL COUNSELORS/ADVOCATES ARE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDECONFIDENTIAL CRISIS INTERVENTION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, LEGAL AND OTHERINFORMATION, AS WELL AS ADVOCACY, BY PHONE AND IN PERSON AT POLICESTATIONS AND HOSPITALS AND/OR COURT FOR BOTH ADULT AND CHILD VICTIMS OFSEXUAL ASSAULT/ABUSE. APPROXIMATELY 393 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED SERVICESTHROUGH THE ADVOCACY PROGRAM IN 2021. IN ADDITION, DAY ONE'S LAWENFORCEMENT ADVOCATES PROVIDED SERVICES TO 2,197 VICTIMS THROUGH POLICEDEPARTMENTS IN NORTHERN RHODE ISLAND, PROVIDENCE, WARWICK, WESTWARWICK, AND SOUTH COUNTY
VICTIMS OF CRIME HELPLINE - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BLACKSTONE VALLEY ADVOCACY CENTER, DAY ONE PROVIDES A 24-HOUR; TOLL FREE VICTIMS OF CRIME HELPLINE. DURING THE YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2021, VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES CONTRIBUTED NEARLY 19,700 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE, RESPONDING TO 65 HELPLINE CALLS.RI CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER DAY ONE'S RHODE ISLAND CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER PROVIDES EVALUATION, EVIDENCE GATHERING AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO CHILD VICTIMS OF SEXUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL ABUSE AND THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS. DURING 2021, 320 CHILD VICTIMS WERE SERVED BY THE RI CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER.
