TO PROMOTE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY SENSITIVE SUPPORT, ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND HOUSING FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING; AND TO EFFECT SYSTEMS CHANGE.

HOUSING PROGRAMS: SOJOURNER HOUSE PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO HELP THEM FIND AND SECURE HOUSING THROUGH TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAMS, RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAMS AND PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAMS. CLIENTS ARE ASSISTED IN LOCATING AN APARTMENT, AND THEY RECEIVE RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THEIR TIME IN THE PROGRAM. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, WE PROVIDED 36,344 BED NIGHTS IN RAPID REHOUSING TO 152 CLIENTS AND 22,032 BED NIGHTS IN PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING TO 68 CLIENTS, AS WELL AS 22,032 BED NIGHTS IN TRANSITIONAL HOUSING TO 62 CLIENTS. THE SHORT-TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM HELPS CLIENTS PAY PAST RENT, SECURITY DEPOSITS, AND UTILITY BILLS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, WE HELPED 258 CLIENTS FOR A TOTAL OF $404,928 IN SHORT-TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE.


EMERGENCY AND SHELTER INTERVENTIONS: SOJOURNER HOUSE PROVIDES IMMEDIATE, EMERGENCY INTERVENTIONS TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WE PROVIDE THREE EMERGENCY SHELTERS, INCLUDING A SPECIFIC SHELTER FOR VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM TAILORED FOR THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY. DURING THE FY 2021 YEAR, WE PROVIDED 10,703 BED NIGHTS TO 96 CLIENTS. OVER 2,600 HOTLINE CALLS WERE ANSWERED AND OVER 1,955 REFERRALS WERE MADE TO OTHER AGENCIES.


COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS: SOJOURNER HOUSE PROVIDES THE ONLY DROP-IN ADVOCACY AND RESOURCE CENTER IN THE GREATER PROVIDENCE AREA. CLIENTS CAN ACCESS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, SUPPORT GROUPS, CLINICAL THERAPY, HIV TESTING, IMMIGRATION ADVOCACY, AND OTHER RELATED PROGRAMS. DURING OUR 2021 FISCAL YEAR, WE PROVIDED A TOTAL OF 9,379 SESSIONS ACROSS OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR A TOTAL OF 4,405 HOURS. OVER 120 CLIENTS RECEIVED CLINICAL SERVICES FOR 1,081 SESSIONS AND 947 HOURS. 157 TOTAL HIV TESTS WERE ADMINISTERED AND 1,593 PEOPLE WERE OUTREACHED THROUGH HIV EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EFFORTS. A TOTAL OF 92 CLIENTS ATTENDED 234 SUPPORT GROUPS FOR 310 HOURS. ADDITIONALLY, 240 CLIENTS RECEIVED LEGAL IMMIGRATION ADVOCACY FOR 1,518 SESSIONS FOR A TOTAL OF 1,136 HOURS. FINALLY, SOJOURNER HOUSE ENVISIONS A WORLD FREE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING, AND THEREFORE WE PROVIDE A WIDE ARRAY OF EDUCATIONAL TRAININGS, WORKSHOPS, AND PROGRAMMING TO YOUTH OF ALL AGES. DURING THE FY 2021 FISCAL YEAR, SOJOURNER HOUSE PROVIDED 305 TOTAL EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS AND REACHED 5,547 PARTICIPANTS.
