Part 3 - Line 4a
I2SL'S MAJOR SOURCE OF INCOME IS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE, WHICH TOOK PLACE IN ATLANTA IN OCTOBER 2021, TO A MUCH SMALLER ATTENDANCE THAN PREVIOUS YEARS DUE TO COVID 19 CONCERNS. THE EXPENSE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS WAS REDUCED BUT THE REVENUES GENERATED WERE ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. MEANWHILE, I2SL'S OTHER FUNCTIONS STILL WERE BEING ADDRESSED. I2SL REDUCED ITS WORKLOAD AND THAT OF ITS CONTRACTED STAFF TO REMAIN A VIABLE ORGANIZATION. AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS, THE CONFERENCE PROVIDED SIGNIFICANT EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND PROFESSIONAL CREDITS, BOTH AT THE CONFERENCE AND THROUGH VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS WEBINARS AND VIRTUAL EDUCATION DAYS. I2SL ENCOURAGED ITS MANY CHAPERS AROUND THE COUNTRY TO OFFER EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, WHICH THEY DID BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON, BUT AGAIN DUE THE THE PANDEMIC THEIR REVENUES WERE SOMEWHAT LIMITED.I2SL WAS AWARDED A SUBCONTRACT LATE IN 2021 BY THE NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENEGY LABORATORY TO CONDUCT MORE VIRTUAL WEBINARS, CREATE BEST PRACICE GUIDES, AND CONDUCT RESEARCH, WHICH WILL GENERATE INCOME IN FY 2022 BUT HAD NOT YET GENERATED INCOME IN FY 2021.
