TO ASSURE MAXIMUM BENEFIT TO STUDENTS ENTERING THE WORKPLACE THE PARTNERSHIP ALSO EDUCATES EMPLOYERS ON HOW TO WORK SUCCESSFULLY WITH YOUNG ADULTS. THESE SERVICES HELP STUDENTS TO SEE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN WHAT THEY ARE LEARNING IN SCHOOL AND THE SKILLS THEY WILL NEED FOR SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT.

SERVES STUDENTS AND AT-RISK YOUTHS IN THE ATTLEBORO, NORTH ATTLEBORO, SEEKONK, NORTON AND MANSFIELD AREAS BY ASSISTING THEM IN DEFINING AND PURSUING CAREER GOALS THROUGH STRUCTURED LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN A VARIETY OF WORKPLACES. THE PARTNERSHIP PROMOTES AND COORDINATES PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT THE "CAREER EXPLORATION CONTINUUM" WHICH CONSIST OF CAREER DAYS, JOB SHADOW EXPLORATION DAYS, INTERNSHIPS AND JOB PLACEMENTS.JOB SHADOWING IS A YEARLONG EFFORT TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF STUDENTS BY ACQUAINTING THEM WITH THE WORLD OF WORK THROUGH ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCES AND A CAREFULLY CRAFTED SCHOOL CURRICULUM THAT TIES ACADEMICS TO THE WORKPLACE. THE EFFORT HELPS YOUNG PEOPLE UNDERSTAND HOW WHAT THEY LEARN IN THE CLASSROOM LEADS TO SUCCESS IN THE WORKPLACE. THE PARTNERSHIP WAS ABLE TO SERVICE 350+ STUDENTS THIS YEAR WITH THE HELP OF VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDED 1,400 HOURS OF THEIR TIME TO THE STUDENTS.THE CAREER DAY EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE IN NORTON AND ATTLEBORO HIGH SCHOOLS REQUIRED THE HELP OF 80 VOLUNTEERS WHO GAVE OVER 300 HOURS OF THEIR TIME TO MAKE THESE DAYS A SUCCESS. THESE CAREER DAYS ARE DESIGNED TO TAKE PLACE AT A CRITICAL POINT IN THE STUDENT'S DECISION MAKING PROCESS REGARDING THEIR FUTURE PLANS. THE EVENT ALLOWS STUDENTS TO HEAR FROM PROFESSIONALS REGARDING THE SPECIFICS OF THEIR FIELD AND LEARN FIRST HAND THE POSSIBLE AVENUES TO REACHING THAT DESIRED OCCUPATION THROUGH EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING.
