THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE CAPE COD SENIOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE IS TO PROVIDE A RECREATIONAL SPORTS PROGRAM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS, TO PROVIDE SPORTSMANSHIP AND A HEALTHY COMPETITIVE SPIRIT AMONG SENIOR CITIZENS, AND TO COOPERATE WITH TOWN AND CAPE COD AGENCIES IN THE BETTERMENT OF PLAYING FIELDS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES. THE LEAGUE CONSISTS OF 21 SOFTBALL TEAMS IN 4 DISTINCT DIVISIONS BASED ON A COMBINATION OF AGES AND ABILITY PLACEMENT, WITH APPROXIMATELY 300 PLAYERS RANGING IN AGE FROM 50 YEARS OLD TO OVER 80. THE LEAGUE PLAYS A REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE OF 28 GAMES FOLLOWED BY PLAYOFFS IN EACH DIVISION. WE SPONSOR TOURNAMENT TRAVEL TEAMS THAT PARTICIPATE IN SENIOR TOURNAMENTS ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. OUR TOURNAMENT, CALL THE "CAPE COD CLASSIC" IS HELD IN EARLY SEPTEMBER EACH YEAR AND DRAWS OVER 55 TEAMS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE LEAGUE HOLDS AN ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET FOR OUR MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS TO WRAP UP THE SOFTBALL SEASON.
