TO BUILD HOMES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WITH VOLUNTEER LABOR, DONATED MATERIALS AND CHARITABLE GIFTS. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY GREATER BOSTON, INC. CONDUCTS HOMEOWNERSHIP CLASSES AND PROVIDES FAMILIES WITH 0% INTEREST MORTGAGES, MAKING HOMEOWNERSHIP AFFORDABLE.

HOMEOWNER SERVICES - THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO BECOME AND REMAIN AS HOMEOWNERS IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA.


COST OF HOMES SOLD AND PROGRAM SUPPORT - EACH HABITAT HOMEOWNER HELPS BUILD THEIR HOME BY COMPLETING 250-300 HOURS OF "SWEAT EQUITY." WHEN THE HOME IS COMPLETE, HABITAT SELLS IT TO THE FAMILY FOR AN AFFORDABLE PRICE THAT ENSURES THE FAMILY'S MONTHLY HOUSING PAYMENT WILL NOT EXCEED MORE THAN 30% OF THEIR GROSS MONTHLY INCOME AND ALSO PROVIDES THE FAMILY WITH A NO- INTEREST MORTGAGE LOAN. THE ORGANIZATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RAISING FUNDS FOR ALL OF THEIR PROJECTS, ITS ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET AND FOR "TITHING" 10% OF ITS UNRESTRICTED REVENUES TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL IN ORDER TO FUND THEIR OVERSEAS PROJECTS.


RESTORE OPERATIONS - IN 2011, THE ORGANIZATION OPENED UP ITS RESTORE. THE HABITAT RESTORE MODEL IS A RETAIL BUSINESS THAT ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF NEW AND GENTLY-USED BUILDING MATERIALS, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES AND HOUSEWARES AND RESELLS THEM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH A RETAIL STORE FRONT. THE HABITAT RESTORE HELPS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT BY KEEPING HUNDREDS OF TONS OF MATERIAL OUT OF OUR LANDFILLS, AND IN A TIGHT ECONONMY PROVIDES A LOW-COST OUTLET FOR HOME IMPROVEMENT MATERIALS TO BE USED BY INDIVIDUALS MAKING HOME RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS IN A MORE AFFORDABLE MANNER.
