THE MISSION OF THE GRAY HOUSE IS TO HELP ITS NEIGHBORS FACING HARDSHIPS TO MEET THEIR IMMEDIATE AND TRANSITIONAL NEEDS BY PROVIDING FOOD, CLOTHING, AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES IN A SAFE, POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT IN THE NORTH END OF SPRINGFIELD.

EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY AND CLOTHING DISTRIBUTIONTHE MARKET AT GRAY HOUSE PROVIDES FOOD TO PEOPLE IN NEED. IN ADDITION TO THURSDAYS FROM 9AM TO 12 NOON, THE MARKET IS OPEN THE SECOND AND FOURTH FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH FROM 3:30PM TO 5:30PM TO ACCOMMODATE THE WORKING POOR IN THE AREA. IN ADDITION, OUR MARKET EXPANDED TO INCLUDE A SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FOR SENIORS (55+) AND VETERANS TO THE SECOND FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH IN THE AFTERNOON. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 18,501 DUPLICATE HOUSEHOLDS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. LASTLY, THE GRAY HOUSE PROVIDES HATS, GLOVES, SCARVES AND OTHER WINTER WEAR ITEMS TO THOSE IN NEED.LASTLY, THE GRAY HOUSE ALSO PROVIDES WINTER WEAR ITEMS, SUCH AS HATS,TRANSITIONAL NEEDS BY PROVIDING FOOD, CLOTHING, AND EDUCATIONALSERVICES IN A SAFE, POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT IN THE NORTH END OF SPRINGFIELDSPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.


KIDS' CLUB AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMTHE KIDS' CLUB PROGRAM HELPS CHILDREN LIVING IN SPRINFIELD BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7 AND 12 WHO LIVE IN POVERTY EVERY MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM SEPTEMBERTHROUGH MAY/JUNE. ENROLLED CHILDREN COME TO THE GRAY HOUSE TO RECEIVE A HEALTHY SNACK, HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, AND TO PARTICIPATE IN ENRICHING, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES. OUR FOURWEEK SUMMER PROGRAM WELCOMES LOW-INCOME CHILDREN LIVING IN SPRINGFIELD BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7 AND 12 TO PARTICIPATE IN LITERACY SUPPORT, HAND-ON STEAM ACTIVITIES, AND CONNECT WITH COMMUNITY MENTORS. 25 UNIQUE CHILDREN WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM DURING THE FISCAL YEAR.


ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMTHE ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM FOCUSES ON HELPING MIGRANTS, REFUGEES, AND ASYLEESIMPROVE THEIR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS WHILE INCORPORATING CRITICAL LIFE SKILLS. IT OFFERS SMALL GROUP CLASSES IN FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS INSTRUCTION (READING, WRITING, MATH, FINANCE, HEALTH, AND DIGITAL LITERACY), BEGINNER ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL), AS WELL AS LITERACY DEVELOPMENT. 96 ADULT LEARNERS WERE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM DURING THE FISCAL YEAR.
