TO EMPOWER THOSE IN THE LOWCOUNTRY AREA OF SOUTH CAROLINA WHO ARE FOOD INSECURE BY PROVIDING FRESH PRODUCE OPTIONS FROM LOCAL FARMS AND GARDENS. VOLUNTEERS GLEAN AT LOCAL FARMS OR COLLECT DONTATIONS FROM FARMERS MARKETS AND GARDENS, HELPING TO REDUCE UNNECESSARY FOOD WASTE. FIELDS TO FAMILIES ORGANIZES THE DISTRIBUTION OF THIS FRESH PRODUCE TO AGENCIES INCLUDING FOOD PANTRIES, SOUP KITCHENS, SHELTERS, AND CHURCHES WORKING TO FEED THE HUNGRY AT NO CHARGE. FIELDS TO FAMILES ALSO GROWS AND DISTRIBUTES PRODUCE FROM THEIR OWN GARDEN LOCATED IN MONCKS CORNER, SC. COLLECTED IN-KIND DONTATIONS OF 111,853 POUNDS OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FROM 11 LOCAL FARMS, FARMERS MARKETS, AND GARDENS, HELPING TO REDUCE UNNECESSARY FOOD WASTE. ALL PRODUCE WAS DISTRIBUTED AT NO COST TO PARTNER AGENCIES FOR DISTRIBUTION TO FOOD INSECURE RESIDENTS OF THE SC LOWCOUNTRY AREA AND/OR TO EDUCATE CHILDREN AND ADULTS ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF HEALTHY EATING HABITS.


MONCKS CORNER GARDEN: EDUCATE OUR COMMUNITY ON HOW TO GROW PRODUCE AND PROVIDE THE HARVEST TO RECIPIENT AGENCIES AT NO COST (CEASED OPERATIONS DURING 2022)


HAUT GAP MIDDLE SCHOOL GARDEN: ENRICHMENT PROGRAM THAT CREATES A COMMUNITY GARDEN WHICH CONNECTS STUDENTS TO FOOD, HEALTH, CULTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT BY SERVING AS AN OUTDOOR LEARNING LABORATORY, PERFECT FOR REITERATING CLASSROOM CURRICULA THROUGH APPLIED LEARNING EXPERIENCES.
