THE FOOD CUPBOARD IS AN ECUMENICAL FOOD PANTRY DEDICATED TO ALLEVIATING HUNGER BY PROVIDING SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD TO THE NEEDY OF SOUTH PORTLAND, CAPE ELIZABETH, SCARBOROUGH AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES.

THE CUPBOARD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FEEDING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE LOCAL AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES IN NEED OF FOOD. STATISTICS HAVE FLUCTUATED THROUGH THE YEARS ON THE FAMILIES WE SERVE. QUALIFIED RECIPIENTS OF OUR FOOD PROGRAMS TYPICALLY INCLUDE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO'S HOUSEHOLD INCOME FALLS WITHIN THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TEFAP) GUIDELINES OR ARE EXPERIENCING AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THAT PREVENTS THEM FROM OBTAINING THEIR NUTRITIONAL NEEDS THROUGH OTHER RESOURCES. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS FOOD IN ORDER TO SUPPLEMENT NEARLY A MONTH'S WORTH OF MEALS. OVER 150 MEN AND WOMEN VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME EACH WEEK TO OPERATE THE CUPBOARD.
