BREAST CANCER EDUCATION ASSOCIATION PROVIDES EDUCATION ABOUT BREAST CANCER PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND SURVIVORSHIP. IN ADDITION, OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE OFFERS RESOURCES FOR LOCAL BREAST HEALTH PRODUCTS, BREAST CANCER ORGANIZATIONS AND A VARIETY OF SERVICES. THE BCEA IS COMMITTED TO MAKING THIS CONFERENCE AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR EDUCATION AND RESOURCES ON BREAST HEALTH. SCHOLARSHIPS WERE GIVEN TO ATTENDEES WHO COULD NOT AFFORD THE COST OF REGISTRATION TO THIS CONFERENCE. THE ANNUAL BCEA EDUCATION CONFERENCE FILLS A DESPERATE NEED FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION AND EDUCATION TO BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. CONFERENCE PROGRAMMING CROSSES ALL BOUNDARIES AND SUPPORTS A VARIETY OF HEALING PHILOSOPHIES AND POSSIBILITIES FROM SURGICAL OPTIONS AND THE LATEST UPDATES TO MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT PRACTICES. THE BCEA ALSO PROVIDED FREE EDUCATION WEBINARS TO MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND ONGOING RESOURCES, SUPPORT AND INFORMATION TO ANYONE WHO CONTACTED OUR OFFICE OR BOARD MEMBERS. FURTHERMORE, BCEA CONDUCTED TWO MINI-CONFERENCES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PROVIDE CANCER INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS. BCEA TRAINED INFLUENTIAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SERVE AS BREAST CANCER CHAMPIONS IN AFRICAN AMERICAN AND IMMIGRANT AFRICAN COMMUNITIES. CHAMPIONS OFFER PEER-TO-PEER, CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE EDUCATION ABOUT BREAST CANCER PREVENTION AND DETECTION, AND CONNECT WOMEN TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES SUCH AS CONVENIENT MAMMOGRAMS AT MOBILE SCREENING EVENTS. CHAMPION AND BCEA OUTREACH EFFORTS RESULTED IN A TOTAL OF 46 EVENTS, 16 WITH MAMMOGRAPHY, 2,023 INDIVIDUALS EDUCATED AND 245 WOMEN SCREENED FOR BREAST CANCER.
