THERAPEUTIC RIDING: TR TEACHES RIDING AND HORSEMANSHIP SKILLS IN A SAFE AND MOTIVATIONAL ENVIRONMENT. CLASSES ARE TAUGHT BY PATH, INTL. CERTIFIED THERAPEUTIC RIDING INSTRUCTORS. WE PROVIDE THIS TYPE OF EQUINE ASSISTED SERVICE TO CHILDREN, ADULTS, AND VETERANS WITH PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL DISABILITIES. TR PROVIDES MANY BENEFITS TO OUR RIDERS; IT ALLOWS THE RIDER TO DEVELOP LIFE SKILLS OF PROBLEM SOLVING, THE ABILITY TO STAY ON TASK, INCREASES FLEXIBILITY, DEVELOPS BALANCE, INCREASES FINE AND GROSS MOTOR SKILLS, PROMOTES STRENGTH, AND BOOSTS SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-CONFIDENCE. IN 2021, WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR RIDERS WITH 4 OPPORTUNITIES TO COMPETE IN HORSE SHOW COMPETITIONS BOTH IN-HOUSE AND OUTSIDE VENUES. WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE AT HORSE SHOWS, OUR RIDERS WORK VERY HARD TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS AND EXCEL AT THEIR CHOSEN SPORT. THESE EXPERIENCES ARE OFTEN LIFE CHANGING.

THE SENSORY INPUT PROVIDED BY THE HORSE HELPS TO INCREASE OR RESTORE THE BALANCE, COORDINATION, FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH AND/OR ENDURANCE OF PATIENTS. PARTNERED WITH THE TREATMENT STRATEGIES OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST AND YOUR PHYSICIAN'S PRESCRIBED TREATMENT GOALS, PHYSICAL THERAPY ON HORSEBACK OFFERS AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO IMPROVING MOBILITY.
